[Goanet] Christian Leader of the western world (a billionaire) paid little tax over the years.

2020-09-28 Thread BT Yahoo Mail

President Donald Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and the
same amount in 2017, and paid no taxes at all in several previous years,
largely because his business empire has reported losing more money than
it made, according to a new report in The New York Times.
In a story posted Sunday afternoon, The Times said it had obtained
tax-return data for Trump and his businesses covering much of the last
two decades. Trump has refused to release his tax returns - making him
the only president in recent history to do so - and he went to the
Supreme Court earlier this year to stop Congress and the Manhattan
District Attorney from accessing them.

[Goanet] Fw: CYBER CELL

2020-09-28 Thread John Eric Gomes
CYBER CELL TURNS NON FUNCTIONAL
Every day it is reported that some bank account has ben hacked. The PM wants
all transactions paperless and to go digital, the security of the nation these
days being of paramount importance. The internet infrastructure and safety
leaves much to be desired. Was shocked to read headlines that due to transfer
of PI Rajesh Job investigation of around 50 pending cases in Goa will come to a
grinding halt! My hacking case with the Cyber Cell came to a dead end and we
will not know what happens to the 50 pending cases, what is the trend, who are
the suspects and what follow up action is taken. One may understand why new
FIRs cannot be loged, but to find the whole department functioning stopped as
reported is ridiculous in this day and age! The PM and CM at the highest level
need to give utmost priority to 24x7 functionning and improvement of Cyber
Cells. The government and its organs are primarily meant for the safety of the
nation and its people. Unfortunately the agencies are used for everything else
but the safety of the people first. Compare security provided to Netas and that
of the aam admi! The non appointment of the new Lokayukta and non functional
cell with transfer of an officer are clear examples of the wrong priorities of
the government ?

[Goanet] Death is cruel

2020-09-28 Thread Nelson Lopes
The dead receive more flowers than living because regret is much greater
than gratitude . .Aren't living more important than dead? Dead will rise
again said the lord but Mary did not disbelieve in resurrection she
was only thinking of Her brother living if Jesus was around. Did Jesus
not weep at the death of LAZARUS?
Religious write to me that God,s will destiny, that plan of God is not
our plan and His ways are not our ways and that these are but human ways in
belief to give us consolation and relief and accept the reality . MANY
of my friends have told me that they are at loss of words what to say
immediately and deliberately postponed
We may have endless question but there is one answer, that death is common
to everyone and only resurrection is guaranteed by christ himself as none
other but he alone has given proof of it and raised to life the dead in
his life time There is no point in tourturing ourselves endlesly laboring
to find and invent words of comfort and consolation in the midst of
tragedies and loss of life whether young or old . Thy zwill be done is the
only and most acceptable phrase. Prayers is the only currency it is said
that is useful in heaven So many offered prayers masses, rosaries and
intercrssary prayers that are the healing balm in times of pain and sorrow
The loss is personal intimate and it cannot be shared ..our depth of
faith and belief can only help us to tide over it
When friends offer their sympathies no doubt it makes pain bearable
though sometimes unintentionally they revive the wounds that need to heal
but surely they mean well in their own humble ways Due to covid
restrictions many are unable to pay their respect as per normal customs
and traditions Hence the number of friends offering the sacrifice of Holy
Eucharustic has been very strange and phenomenal experience for our
family The obituaries , wreaths and bouquets and condolence visits were
not curtailed by those who defied the safety instructions at their own
risks inspite of all messages

SHAKEPEARE IN Macbeth said when Duncan was murdered that scents of Arabia
may scent your hands and body but the grief cannot be erased from memory
until you take it to the grave by yourself ,when life is finally
extinguished
How true that the hughest tribute to the departed is not grief but
gratitude
However strong and small your little faith like a mustsrd seed ,it
wavers, falters when the tragedy is personal and unexpected Doubts take
better of you to question your very own life that might have caused the
event in retribution and lead to self flagelation and that is jj most
detestable
WHEN THE FAITH IS NOT DEMOSTRATED IN ACTION OUR BELIEF IS WORTHLESS LIke
DOUBTING THOMAS
It is a fact that depth of joy can only be fathomed when contrasted with
pain. . joy and sorrow is a cycle that will repeat and alternate as
neither is permanent

I VALUE EVERY WORD SPOKEN BY MY FRIENDS AND DEFINITELY ENSURED PEACE AND
TRABQUILITY TO our torMENTED MIND HOWEVER MOMENTARILY
I express my gratitude to all those who reached out to us in their own way
to show their concern and care

It is sad that well known bands like Santimano band is missed in the list
of Band from Goa. Although they were quite old but very famous. I don't
understand how it was missed. Similarly our band which is called RINGERS
also missed. My team leader of RINGERS was well famous  musician who was
also a composer and one of the top musician in Goa. We started playing in
1950s for various weddings clubs and Emissora de Goa.
My team leader at present is having a top band in Canada because he had
settled in Toronto. While in Goa he thought many band musicians and their
leaders and surprisingly how our band missed appearing in Goanet.
We were playing in most of the famous club in Goa. Also for Cabaret,
weddings, Carnival and for parties.
Santimano is right and I am not wrong the family used to stay down the
Corte de Oiteiro road.
I am sure some few bands also not been listed.
I remember their names of the band but let them bring to the notice of
Goanet. ( Frederick).

Hi Frederick,

I would like to bring to your attention that there was a family band =
parents + 8 children who used to perform in the Panjim gardens, mando
festival and specially in Clube Nacional and Clube Vasco da Gama known as
SANTIMANO FAMILY BAND.

May be the old timers have heard about this famous family band in the mid
60?s???

A CSE WEBINAR & ROUND TABLE

ENABLING THERMAL COMFORT IN MASS HOUSING

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 29, 2020 | 4.00-5.30 PM INDIA TIME

Thermal comfort improves liveability and health outcome in buildings.
Temperature, humidity and natural ventilation are key parameters that
define thermal comfort; at the same time, they have a direct
relationship with the spread of infectious diseases like COVID-19
inside dwellings. The ongoing pandemic has reinforced the need to look
at housing layouts, building design and choice of materials for
addressing thermal comfort not only as enablers of liveability, but
also as a catalyst to reduce disease burden in
residential buildings.

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) invites you to join a Round
Table and Webinar where the key stakeholders in mass housing are
expected to discuss the most pertinent questions, capture the
different perspectives, and draw up a comprehensive action plan for
the future.

We look forward to seeing you.

Please note: This is a free online event, and registration is open to
all. All those who register will receive an automatic confirmation.
However, this event can accommodate a limited number of attendees on a

[Goanet] THE RULE OF LAW HAS GONE FOR A TOSS

2020-09-28 Thread Aires Rodrigues
The all important Institution of Lokayukta, the Human Rights Commission,
the State Information Commission and the Police Complaints Authority are
all bodies constituted by law and each one of them has a purpose besides a
clear mandate by law. These very independent authorities are constituted by
law to deliver justice for the citizen and bring to book the wrong doers.

Huge public funds are spent in running these bodies for the benefit of the
common man so it is expected that the Government of the day should give due
respect to the reports and recommendations of these vital institutions.

It would be absolutely fallacious on the part of any ruling government to
say that the orders of these institutions are merely recommendatory. If
that be the case all that money poured down the drain by the government on
these bodies would display no respect whatsoever to the orders and
directions passed by these bodies.

It should come as no surprise if the government one day says that orders of
even the High Court and Supreme Court are also just advisory.

It is no secret that over the last few years the BJP in Goa has deviously
circumvented directions passed by the High Court, National Green Tribunal
and even the Supreme Court. The taxpayer will undoubtedly feel cheated that
these sacred and independent institutions they finance and depend on are
being abused and their rulings ignored.

The Government has a duty to respect the law and the orders passed by
institutions created by law and the Constitution in the best interests of
those they were elected to serve. Government must realise that they are not
above the law or the Constitution that is based on the Rule of Law.
