Re: [Goanet] Catholic Church OK’s Gay Unions
A case of creating your own belief and then trying to support it, never mind about bending the truth. The Pope was clear about his opinion. Now everybody is rushing to ‘damage control’ by speaking for him. If he was misquoted or misinterpreted he would have said it. Roland. [Goanet] Is Pope Francis A Donald Trump?
There is a world of difference between Pope Francis and Donald Trump, but on this issue (among others) the Catholic Church as an institution shows up the pontiff as a loose cannon. At the very least the Church makes it seem like their Head has a touch of dementia, making ambiguous pronouncements requiring “clarifications” from his subordinate cardinals. [Goanet] SHIFT BAINGUINIM SOLID WASTE TREATMENT PLANT
Shift Bainguinim solid waste treatment plant away from Old Goa churches. Hope all the newspapers make a wide publicity. Stephen Dias, Dona Paula 27.10.2020 9422443110 On deeper introspection, I have realized the folly of setting up the solid waste treatment plant at Bainguinim as its closeness to the World Heritage site of Old Goa with its ornate churches in particular the Basilica de Bom Jesus as well as the iconic Sè Cathedral will definitely affect this holy city which is a tourist attraction for very discerning visitors from far and wide. Besides these two churches other monuments such as the Santa Monica convent which houses the Museum of Christian Art as well as the St. Cajetan Church among others are marvels of intricately crafted Renaissance era architectural genres, which will never be replicated again. Also the residents of Old Goa as well as neighbouring Corlim, Carambolim, St Andrè annd other villages nearby are up in arms against this waste treatment plant. It is thus the duty of the North Goa MP and the MLAs of Tiswadi for whom this plant will benefit to scout for an alternate site any where else in Tiswadi. As long as, the monuments of Old Goa with its unique old world charm exists, the Bainguinim waste treatment plant should not come up there at close vicinity. Goa does not have an efficient disaster management response force to deal with the effects of malfunctioning of the plant and also industrial depreciation of machinery is 10-15% per year, which means that the plant can be guaranteed for 10 years only at the most. We, in Panjim and Taleigao already facing incompetency of garbage collection and heavy accumulation and foul smell on roadside is seen all over the city limits. Prudence necessitates an alternate site.
[Goanet] Bjp hopes in Bihar are bright
BJP prospects in Bihar are bright BJP in Bihar though allied with NDA seem to nursing undeclared second thoughts .Though publicly NITISH is their CM face , things could change in the fast developing fluid situation .IT is one state in the Hindi belt that has not registered its presence. B JP IS RIDING PIGGY back on JD(U) and it is comfortable , as it has slowly made inroads ,but surely it has its own secret agenda .Nitish too relies heavily on the popularity and charisma of Modi for his survival .It is not surprising that BJP posters have deliberately ommitted Nitish on the election campaign ,in a way to test the waters. Nitish who is otherwise cool and calculated is angry and rattled by omission of his poto alongside P.M and the opposition is capitalising on the issue of Nitish being sidelined and marginalised. CM is naturally angry and it is writh large in his tone, outbursts at rallies. Chirag of LJP has some pockets of influence but openly oppising JD(U) an NDA ally but at the same time praising Modi and espousing the cause of BJP CM. THIS is a dichotomy of sorts. BJP on the other hand is silent and has not openly counteracted Chirag as it serves their purpose. Shusil Kumar Modi is the man in waiting and hopeful of being the choice in the event of hung Assembly and assured support of LJP..Chirag may act as spoil sport to dethrone Nitish from the pedestal of power in Bihar as uncrowned King of Bihar politics The sympathetic wave for Chirag and his youtful ,charismatic wisdom doning the mantle of Late Paswan is real factor to be counted People have tasted the reign of RJD and in its previous reign ,the record of employment is dismal .The announcement of 10 lakhs job as against BJP 19 lakks is fuelling the campaign mode to the hilt. It is a promise of bringing moon to earth ,which has been dismissed with disdain it deserves ,judging from previous records of RJD too. .No new industries have opened shop as the implementation authority and infrastructure are woefully inadequate while those existing industries have shut shop . The unemployment is high and hordes of Biharis are on a train to nowhere living in abject conditions of filth and squalor to eke out a living. THE LAND LOCKED state has no mineral wealth and agriculture is not picking up due to poor unremunerative wages .Sone parts of Bihar are starved of safe drinking water till date. Education has not percolated specially at higher level and Biharis are migrants for all purposes LJP AND RJD CANNOT SEE EYE TO EYE to provide formidable opposition to Nitish. NITISH has made substantial changes in health , education but it is too little too late to earn dividends forever. HE is facing incumbancy hang over. Political forecast seem to favour majority for NDA, however wafer thin and it is obvious Nitish dream of continuation of being CM Face of NDA may be numbered ,but he is unfazed as he had his inings at the hustings long enough to cherish as memory in case of a surprise springing up at hustings Hopefully with BJP ruling at centre his movement to the Centre is a real possibility as a kick upwards . wait and watch how the situation unfolds in Bihar post elections Nelson lopes chinchinim
[Goanet] GOA’S ROADS IN VERY DIRE STRAITS
The government must take concerted steps to make our roads motorable and safe. With the monsoons now having receded, there needs to be an action plan in place to repair the roads across Goa which are with potholes galore. The authorities need to focus on proper road engineering. There also needs to be a crackdown on unlicensed drivers and Zero tolerance to over speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Vehicles emitting toxic fumes must be penalised which includes many Government owned Kadamba buses. The 386 year old Ribandar-Panaji causeway which was once referred to as the longest bridge in Asia is now literally hanging on borrowed time in a very dilapidated condition in some areas. Before any disaster occurs, the government must act swiftly to carry necessary remedial measures of this causeway which driving along one gets an awesome panoramic and so scenic view.
