[Goanet] HEALTH CENTRE: BJP malevolence at work
On Dec 25, 2020, Advocate Aires Rodrigues wrote: "Despite a categorical assurance by three top ministers Union Minister Shripad Naik, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant & Health Minister Vishwajit Rane that a 30 bedded Health Care Centre would be set up at the Old Ribandar Hospital, Naik’s Ayush Ministry is expeditiously setting up a Yoga Centre when our actual requirement is a 24X7 trauma unit with all medical assistance... ... ..." Amazing that these three top ministers can coolly abuse their power by switching from an agreed project to a Hindu-biased alternative. They are thereby confirming common allegations of BJP malevolence and treachery. Even on health issues, the babus seem to lack basic ethics and compassion. More generally, these BJP babus (especially Modi’s ministers) seem to be peasants at heart, driven by emotion and unfamiliar with the norms of logic and rational thinking. Because Hindi is a relatively primitive language, the babus are forced to think in English and from time to time mumble impressive sounding phrases like 'democracy', ‘sedition’ but can’t elaborate. Sometime ago, Modi advocated ‘modernity’ but couldn’t expand – either he doesn’t understand the concept or cannot explain it in English. To return to Aires, has he, as a legal professional, confronted any of the Ministers on the matter? Eddie

[Goanet] RIBANDARWILL NEVER RELENT TILL THE PROMISED 30 BEDDED HEALTH CENTRE SEES THE LIGHT OFTHE DAY
Ribandar is now shocked and appalled that despite a categorical assurance by our local MP Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and our MLA Babush Monseratte that a 30 bedded Health Care Centre would be set up at the Old Ribandar Hospital, it is now to our utter surprise that the Shripad Naik’s Ayush Ministry that is expeditiously setting up a Yoga Centre on the ground floor of our Old Ribandar Hospital when our actual requirement is a 24X7 trauma unit with all medical assistance. A very unacceptable State of affairs. It is no secret that Ayush Minister’s eldest son Siddesh Naik who has been recently elected as a ZP member is working as a broker and collection agent on behalf of his father for all the Ayush projects. A CBI probe will establish it all. It is distressing that our otherwise simpleton MP who earlier got his other two sons high-handedly appointed as government officers has now got to the other level by anointing his eldest son as his collection agent. A very unacceptable State of affairs. Ribandar will hold our MP, CM, HM and more particularly our MLA for not having fulfilled the promise of a 30 bedded Health Care Centre at the Old Ribandar Hospital. Please do not take the people of Ribandar for granted as we are very assertive and this Health Care Centre is our longstanding hope which will also cater to the needs of our surrounding Panchayats. I hope our MLA will act fast to deliver on his promise and immediately stop all that Ayush work at our Old Ribandar Hospital. Does our MP Shripad Naik need to be reminded that when he was recently with COVID-19 his Ayush doctors were of no avail but that it was Allopathic Medicine that came to his rescue. [Goanet] An old post reincarnated
During the past week I have received a slew of emails and messages about “your blog on Goa’s colonization.” On further inquiry, it turned out that a Goanet post I made in Dec 2011 (linked below) on the occasion of 50 years since 1961 has been doing the rounds in the Goan WhatsApp-sphere, but with a twist. Years ago, someone did a copy & paste of my original rant, edited it, swiped an old photo of mine, and reproduced it on his/her blog making it look like I had made the post. I should declare here that I have no association with that blog or person or group. I am not going to link to that blog here. I stand by my original post and the sentiments I expressed therein. But I have nothing to do with the “blog post” currently circulating or the crew behind that blog. It would have been better if those people had simply linked to the post on Goanet. Amusingly, a lot of the messages I received are from friends and acquaintances who pooh-poohed my concerns at the time. Almost ten years later the sewage must be cutting close to their doorstep. Some who identify with the sentiment find “colonization” hard to digest. To them I say, replace the word in your mind with something more palatable. My intent was not to win friends or smother you with sweet-nothings. All my life, I have seen Goan leaders scurry to Delhi to seek “permission” from the “High Command” on the most trivial of matters. In other words, we replaced one set of masters with another. No other visual symbol represents Indian colonization as tellingly as the Raj Bhavan in Dona Paula. Delhi periodically decides to send a worthless fatcat to live there on an all-expenses-paid vacation (billed to us Goans) at a location with few rivals on the planet, while Goans are kept out on all days of the year but one. If I were to write in a more formal setting I would, of course, change a few words, rephrase things, and so on. But Goanet rants are not meant to be formal. And besides, when you consider the garbage written by ‘journalists’ and ‘columnists’ these days in print media both in India and abroad, Goanet postings acquit themselves admirably, thank you. The original Goanet post - http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2011-December/130344.html Best regards, r
