Maria Aurora Couto, inarguably the finest author and novelist in Goa, is 
seriously ill. I received this message from a mutual friend:
Stanley, you may know already, but in case you don't, Aurora is in the ICU at 
GMC, which I'm guessing is Goa Medical College. 

Her granddaughter Shreya sent me this
 _Nani’s scans came back showing her lungs collapsed. There isn’t anything more 
they can do for her. They have sedated and intubated her_

[Goanet] CALANGUTE’S SOUZA LOBO RESTAURANT NOW WITH A DANCE BAR WITHIN ITS PREMISES IS NO LONGER ICONIC

Having nostalgic memories of Goa’s famed Souza Lobo restaurant at
Calangute, I was curious to know what exactly had transpired there on the
night of 28th December.

Contrary to the much publicized account that it was an attack on Souza Lobo
restaurant due to business rivalry, it has now transpired that it was a
brawl between the staff of two dance bars, a continuation of the fight they
had the previous day over some petty argument.

It is very disheartening to learn that a portion of the Souza Lobo
restaurant has been leased out to be run as a dance bar. All these dance
bars are de-facto brothels and an eyesore to Calangute which was once
acclaimed as Queen of beaches.

It would be proper if the owners of Souza Lobo can do away with that dance
bar and restore it to the full-fledged famed restaurant, known for its
authentic Goan food and music which we all enjoyed for decades.

Dance bars have never been part of our tourism and must be done away with
as Goa has much more to offer to the tourists.  In recent years the number
of quality tourists has dwindled as our state has become an unsafe
destination with its infrastructure also in shambles.

Let us hope our DGP will get to the bottom of what and why the events of
the night of December 28th transpired there, as Goa and the world should
know the true facts and not a distorted version. We are also entitled to be
liberated from the curse and evil of these Dance Bars. We all need to
remember that playing with fire carries the risk of burns.

On December 9th, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Noto issued an apology for 
Bishop Antonio Stagliano's comment regarding Santa Claus not being real after 
facing outrage from angry parents. 

On St. Nicholas' Day, Stagliano told children at a festival where he was 
speaking that Santa Claus doesn't exist. He also added that the red color of 
the suit that Santa wears was chosen by the Coca-Cola company exclusively for 
advertising purposes. 

Rev. Alessandro Paolino, the Diocese of Noto's communications director, 
explained via Facebook that the bishop's “intentions were quite different.” 
Stagliano explained to a local news outlet in Italy that he had intended to 
help children “distinguish what is real from what is not,” clearly missing the 
irony that is apparent to non-believers. 

He emphasized that he wished to highlight the true meaning of Christmas in 
contrast to the modern commercialization that took away the holiday spirit.

The court has ordained  that Aadhar card is not compulsory except for those
seeking benefits under schemes.It is not a document of citizenship Linkages
with Bank account, mobile are being misused by fraudsters
The mobile number is not permanent  then why seek  link and then  not make
it simple to comply  through  multiple agencies If stamp papers, currency,
aadhar passport  pan card, driving,  debit credit cards can be duplicated
at will,what is so sacrosanctreliable authenticity of Aadhar?
If  duplicate voter card can be  misused, then there should be national
register of voter EPIC.migrants have duplicate cards  one at original place
and other where they temporarily reside, that is voting is possible I'm two
places
If EPIC is confiscated till voting why not AADHAR?  we are a Nation of
multiple card systen, thus complicating a simple process
All types of cards now in existence should be reduced to just one for all
purposes

[Goanet] ILLEGALITY AT MATHIAS PROJECT FOOTPATH BROKEN UP TO TAP RAJ BHAVAN PIPELINE?

The Project coming up by Mathias owners  is seen a  footpath broken  in
front of their huge building project at Dona Paula probably  for water
connectivity of Main Raj Bhavan pipeline? This footpath lies at the main
road Bambolim- Dona Paula. I have seen this work is undertaken late hours
of evening on 3rd Jan  by Mathias workers ( photo enclosed) . When
questioned the workers  told me  they will be maintaining the footpath
level. And this is done to build two gates sideways to access their
internal vehicular traffic. Local Corporator Nelson Cabral has been
informed to check and demand investigation by PWD and CCP. Water scarcity
already exist for us for the whole of Dona Paula and now  it will be worst
if not corrected.
This is a serious issue for the government to find out the exact reasons.
 Photograhs taken by me  on late evening of 3rd Jan 2022 will help for
inspection for our authorities to investigate and must carry out  before
the work is completed.

Goa will soon have election to its Legislative Assembly.
Thinking of the future, the BJP seem to have  momentum in
their favour, but they  are not invincible.
Since the tigress has successfully shown the way out of Bengal
to the male fashion model, let us hope  she will  do the same in Goa.
Perhaps, it could be a pointer to depakistanization of  India that
is gradually taking place under the current dispensation.
But the most amusing part of the election  could be the fight  offered
by Digambert (Dom Quixote ) Kamat along with his faithful crony
Vijay(Sancho Panza) Sardesai.
