[Goanet] Horse 'tales'
I just watched a documentary on the 'management' of horses in the wild in the state of Montana. Fifty state prison inmates run a farm that turn very dangerous beasts into horses with a potential of becoming valuable race horses. The 'Program' costs seventy million, possible when taxes are collected honestly. The French have a big appetite for horse flesh. My friend Norman is involved in that freight forward trade from several countries. He is visiting Goa at the moment. He worksaround the clock and has little use for fake Covid fund raisers. I have put him to work for me in Goa on a kindly local Saligao operation. A Vasai father and son team operate a little restaurant outside NY city. Goa Diocesepriests created the Bassein schools that turned vegetable growers into a happy middleclass. The P&O liner I dined on is now in Barbados, by way of Liverpool and Norway. It burnsthe oil that could heat homes and power factories. The retirees on board also need statefunded pensions and medicare.
[Goanet] CASINOS CANNOT BE ABOVE THE LAW
The Traffic Police now vowing that the No Parking- No stopping on Panaji’s very busy Dayanand Bandodkar Marg would be enforced during IFFI exposes the obvious police nexus with the Casino lobby. Why enforcement only during IFFI when rules and regulations are to be enforced around the year and round the clock. Road traffic violations cannot be enforced on a pick and choose basis according to the whims of their political masters. The law is the law, so casinos and politicians must never be above the law. If you are unable to penalize the blatant violations by Casino vehicles, don’t enforce the traffic rules against ordinary citizens. This blatant mockery of the law and double standards cannot be allowed. The traffic mayhem merrily created by Casino vehicles with the blessing of their political godfathers and a blind eye from the Police, is nerve wrecking with commuters and citizens of Panaji having to face the brunt. No other State except Sikkim besides Daman & Diu have allowed Casinos to operate. Only Goa’s greedy politicians have fallen prey to the bait allowing the Casinos to be a law to themselves running the gambling trade unregulated and breaching every law while even polluting the river Mandovi. The BJP had once branded Casinos as dens of vice, but now they are ATMs for the ruling politicians with abundant moolah flowing. Will the rule of law be ever enforced? Making all transactions in Casinos cashless would go a long way to clip the wings of the Casino lobby which is responsible for the social degradation of our State. Gambling with Goa’s fortunes is bad enough but gambling with people’s lives on the roll of a dice is clearly abhorrent and unacceptable! Adv. [Goanet] Dating apps are villains?
Dating apps are villans ? The brutal killing of Shradha has brought dating apps into sharp focus.People are demanding ban or strict regulations to avoid a repeat. What about marriage bereaus or adds in newspapers? Do they assure success? The decisions are made by mature and consenting adults. There are aspects of life, personality which may never be fully disclosed even in love and arranged marriages.Have there not been such ghastly incidents in legal marriages? There are happy and broken relations in anytype of normal marriages.Parents are not enemies wishing anything catastrophic for their children .Their advice, experience ,suggestions are well meaning for our welfare and they have been part and parcel of our life so long.Rushing into relationship without their consent may not be exactly a wise decision .The success ratio , comparison between dating apps ,marriage bereaus ,adds arranged or love marriages may not be eskewed. The success in relations depends upon adjustment mutual respect and common goals that need maturity and selflessness The focus is on Shradha as she is the victim who has lost her precious life in most gruesome manner. Why did she not confide in her parents rather than trying to reform a drug addict, abusive partner without proper job or financial stability Inter caste and inter religious relations whether temporary or permanent have peculiar adjustment problems .The quarrels over expense on groceries is phatetic to start with .Without a steady job he was living off her income and she should have realised it .Why did she endure physical abuse in live in relationship.?Never complained to authorities about domestic violence.?The friends in whom she confided did not come to her rescue or consider serious enough to intervene Live in relations trends are apparently normal and must be regulated. They must be registered just like a marriage. The legal rights to properties be assured. The children born or adopted in such a relation must be be considered as legitimate, sharing rightly all the inheritances. Disputes and conflicts settlement must be on the same lines as legally married couples with recourse to divorce or separation. It need to be considered as a form of marriage Why had she to bear extreme physical and mental abuse and continue to live in relations ?She was mature enough to walkout anytime and specially under circumstances but she persisted in a hopeless situation too long with nothing to look forward too. Legitimacy for lesbians and homosexuals live in relations is another issue. The western concept of live in relationshipl without biological issue, responsibility , commitment is catching up here too.The society too seem to accept this aberration as necessary evil .The selfishness in live in relations will destroy the institution of marriage and basic family unit of the society.Surrogacy and adoption make tradition and formalities redundant Nelson Lopes Chinchinim
