Dear Floriano-bab,

Why do you think otherwise about Oscar-bab? That photo in GT
report  may be an old one.

Every second person walking in Goa is a politician. If you say no one should be
friends with politicians, your Goa Suraj party people will also be lonely.

Best regards,

I have read the GT report.
But I don't detect any warmth, neither in that report, nor on the
charming/smiling face - heart of the GBA Convenor.

I,  along with the entire Goa want to believe Dr. Oscar Rebello that
GBA is  really united. Hope he really means what he has said.

Contrary to what Dr. Oscar Rebello has said in his brief report (GT), I
strongly believe that:
Goa will be united if Goans unite,  leaving aside their personal
agendas and agendas of their media/builder cronies and politician friends.

[Goanet] Goa People's Assembly

2008-06-14 Thread Diogo DSouza
Dear Goanetters,

What is all this confusion? Which Dr. Rajan? One Rajan is photgrapher, other
Rajan is Editor. Is Rajan Cunciolienkar, Supdt of GMC a doctor? I thought he
was a bureacrat from Secretariat. Why Goan Observer write nothing about GPA?
Otherwise that Rajan write tomorrow's story yesterday!

Why will GPA be like Lok Shakti? I thought Lok shakti was an Advertising Agency
for NRI Goan professionals like Rajan, and that Virgincar fellow who used to
write sometinmes on goanet before. I think Floriano can guide us. He somehow
knows all these rascals.

How come Rajan Parikar become Director in Peaceful Society? I thought there was
some Kumar or someone in Peaceful Society, or was that Satan Sonsta or
something in Ponda that is doing all the anti-Muslim exhibitions and
anti-Narkasur or Diwali protests every year?

Best wishes,

Diogo

Rajan bab had got angry with me because I said that GBA is good. Now he is
doing another group called GPA. GBA - GPA. It cannot be just like that. I am
going to come and see which activists are going to come to do air conditioned
activism in Hotel Mandovi Hall. Maybe Nova Goa was not available.
Anyway it is good if this GPA will first look at the illegal construction of
the Convention Hall of Mandovi, and then they will look at Conversion of
riverfront space meant for sitting for old and young people into Riveiara Event
Deck. And last there is mining by the Kenis.
We Goans will not be cheated like this by politicians. This GPA will be another
Lok Shakti. Only sad thing is good people like Rajan are wasting their time and
money on them. Dr Rajan will be another Dr Francis Colaco. Good man in wrong
place.

[Goanet] ToI exposes politician-mining nexus in Goa 22 June, 2008

2008-06-24 Thread Diogo DSouza
Dear Netters,

Manohar Parrikar's Press Mangement Engine seems to be in DENIAL MODE as the BJP
bus slowly moves downhill. He makes frivilous statements and then promptly
denies them. He says he has dumped Babush Monserrate, but he has taken Babush
Monserrate to Delhi TWICE in attempts to topple the Digamber Government. Next
month will be the FIRST DEATH ANNIVERSARY of the Goa Democratic Alliance
[GDA], the still born child of Parrikar's unholy alliance. this year they tried
to get a MAJORITY in the Goa People's Assembly [GPA] because the majority keeps
eluding tyhem in the Goa Legislative Assembly [GLA] as one netter has pointed
out.

DDA, GPA, GLA. Nothing seems to work for poor Parrikar. May be he should forget
his RSS pride and apply for membership of the GBA. The Goa Bachao Andolan seems
to be working quite sucessfully. It also doe not need to go to Delhi to succeed
in Goa, unlike the Congress and BJP leaders in Goa.

May be the time has come for the GBA to have a political party. Chicken shakuti
and caju feni is nice in the rainy season. Can also eat some ponos because it
is St. Juan time. Perhaps Parrikar can host it. He seems to know where to get
funds to float 500 NGOs. One wonder if he knows how to run them or whether he
will import technology from Gujarat or Chhatishgarh or from the USA. They say
he has sent some people for training under George W. Bush.

Some one was telling me that the Dr. Anil deSa who spoke at some rally in
Panaji and gave some computers or LCDs to some Sarkari Shala in Shirvoi Verem
or something near Ponda is back in Goa. Sheer waste of money. shala having
maximum drop outs in Goa. I think he is a relative of the old NIO Director and
doing some project for Syngenta or something that owns the Santa Monica boat
cruises that also go to some Spice Farm in his village. Farmers now using lotsa
chemicals, they say. Bad for health. Dr. Anil must be knowing it also if he is
medical doctor.

Best wishes.

Happy St. Jerome feast to all Mapshemkars.

Today is the St. Jerome feast in Mapusa but the St. Jerome Youth Association
does
not seem to be alive enough to conduct a Quiz competition like it used to do in
the
1970s to 1990s. Miguel and Cecil wrote about their quizzing days. Now they seem
to
have retired from the scene and writing in some newspapers only. Why can't they
organize something for the youngsters??

I read in the newspapers that St. Mary's High School organized a Inter-School
Quiz
Competition and was happy that at last something was happening in Mapusa. My
joy was
short lived: it was St. Mary's High School, Ponda!

Last year, the BMX, a Toronto-Canada based association of St. Britto, St.
Mary's and
St. Xaviers ex-students organized a inter-Higher Sec. School Quiz that was
nice.
This year it is not having any event in Goa and so there is no Quiz also. There
is
no plan on their website. No updates also.

It would be nice if some association in Mapusa could organize a competition to
encourage the students to be interested in the world around them. Is any out
there
listening??

Best regards,

Diogo

Dear Goenkars,

Today's Navhind Times has some very tricky news that could fox even the "kolo"
from Saligao. See
http://www.navhindtimes.in/goa-news/cardozo-firm-son-contesting-civic-election

A very interesting development is taking place in the backstreets of Madgaon:
Mama ieta ani koko dita.

Diggu-bab seems to be playing "spot fixer" and giving Mama's boy a "spot" in
the MMC in exchange for Mama's support for his "blue eyed boy" getting a chance
to contest and win. "Social engineering" is being taken to another level of
corruption. In case Damu-bab of BJP does not want to contest on Congress ticket
in the land of Dam-bab of Madgaon near Pimpalkatta, or if there is a need to
play spoil sport for Churchill bab in Navelim that now extends all the way to
Davorlim, there ia an alternative candidate ready and waiting.

Politics make strange bad fellows and politics cannot get worser than
this.Everyone is becoming either a "social worker" or a "social activist". The
word "anti-social" does not exist any more in Goa's dictionary. Everybody is so
social in Goa.

Tch! Tch! Do not criticize the Madgaonkars. They are getting all set to rock
Goa with Konkani on the border of Fatorda grounds. Sachchi church hill, I am
not joquim. Madgaon Moti dongra sokol-u Monti festu challuch asa-u.

Cardozo firm on son contesting civic election
Published on: September 18, 2010 - 01:03

MARGAO: Reacting to accusations of spot-fixing for the upcoming municipality
elections, two local politicians — longtime Congressman and three time MLA and
ex-councillor, Mr Alex Cardozo and the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee general
secretary, Mr Vijay Sardessai, involved in the meeting brokered by the Chief
Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, reacted in two different ways.
While Mr Vijai Sardessai said that he was only involved in a very limited way
as these elections were "not fought on party lines," Mr Alex Cardozo said his
son was contesting from ward number 9 in Fatorda come what may.
But, ironically, as if to prove that this was just a sideshow for the main
event to follow – that of the Legislative Assembly elections - the meeting laid
the framework for the combinations and permutations within Fatorda constituency
adding some weight to the observation by many political observers that
elections could follow the final round of municipality elections slated for
somewhere around March next year.
This meeting could even affect the neighbouring Nuvem constituency given the
history of last time’s elections as both are dominated by ST voters.
Mr Cardozo said that he had gone for the meeting on the express request of the
Chief Minister
"The reason is that Vijay and I are not on good terms because of the last
elections. And, the Chief Minister said being Congressmen we should meet, so we
met," he told media.
But, what was pertinent was that he said that he would support the GPCC general
secretary if he was the Congress candidate this time.
"I have given assurance that my son will not stand this time (for Assembly),"
he said.
But, as if to put a point across, he argued that he wanted "our people to be
represented properly. I want every person to be given representation."
He was very adamant that the people who were with him for past 20 years should
be given recognition.
"If I am given recognition alone, it is no use. I cannot work alone. I need
these people too," he said.
Going back on the municipal elections round the corner, he categorically stated
that he was only interested in promoting his engineer son from ward number 9
(MMC) of Fatorda constituency.
"I am fielding my son on ward number 9. Hundred per cent I am going to do that.
He is an engineer," he told media.
Mr Sardessai, the contender for the Fatorda Congress ticket, told media that he
and Mr Cardozo had met as Congressmen belittling the "setting accusation."
"If Mama Cardozo meets me it is because he is the vice president of the
Congress party and I am the general secretary," he said.
He was also categorical that he was not floating a panel this time. "I am not
floating a panel this time," and professed that he was all for reservations
done in a "transparent" manner.
