Dears,

a: I disagree with R. Fernandes. Child Abuse is a serious crime. It
should be exposed right out in the middleso that the known few are
never again allowed again to cause the good priests to suffer the
mistrust and suspicion.

b: While I know that 'abusers' have infected many segments of life,
and that one finds them among the 'guardians' of many faiths, I am
happy that all the Catholic Church leaders (I personally know) have
taken a firm 'zero tolerance' on such matters. I seriously doubt that
this would have been possible if not for the exposure.

c: Having said that, we all (possibly) know that the Catholic Church
is a specific target for selective attack. It is perceived as being
rich and has disturbed the status quo by helping the poor and
educating them (esp in countries like India with its caste
discrimination).

d: I'd think a million times before accepting the word of a man/woman
who has been dumped by a woman/man, a priest who has left the Church,
or anyone who is upset that he/she cannot commit bigamy or cannot
remarry in the church after stranding his/her first spouse and
possibly the children.

e: Until one knows ALL the possibly available facts and analyses them
fairly and reasonably, all one will end up doing is a hatchet job
replete with hate, obsession, ignorance and libel.

f: On the basis of what I know of John Paul II's life, I applaud his
Beatification. Having noted that, I'd say that there are many others
in need of attention.

g: Atheists, non-church-goers and those who are just plain negative
...may not understand this.

A Humble request.

This forum is being used by most folks to, debate, air grievances', argue,
ridicule, insult, abuse, praise, applaud etc, etc.

Can we PLEASE NOT discuss (negatively) or argue or ridicule our RELIGION on a
public forum? If at all one does want to pursue the matter I suggest you do it
by corresponding through your private emails. The POPE (past and present) - who
is the head of our religion - has made a decision and we as Catholics should
respect the decision even if we do not accept it (majority of the world does
accept it) . You may debate about it, discus it,etc, etc but do it through your
own private channels. Majority of the people that read this forum daily, have
respect for the POPE and more so for our Religion. Let's not wash the dirty
linen in public.

Could the moderators of Goanet please draw a line to control certain posts?
Most of us like to keep in touch with Goanet to know what is happening in our
dear Goa and anything relevant to the place. Private feuds and discussions
should be discussed on private mediums of correspondence. This is only a humble
request..

God Bless you all.

Fr Ivo,

This very man who is now "beatified" and whom you so effusively praise, played
the main role in the cover-up of the church's massive child abuse scandals. The
word 'abuse' is mild and misleading. It should really be called child rape and
destruction of lives but that is a digression.

Allegations that the late pontiff blocked an inquiry into a paedophile
cardinal, promoted senior church figures despite accusations that they had
molested boys and covered up innumerable cases of abuse during his 26-year
papacy have cast a cloud over his path to sainthood. The most serious claims
are related to Cardinal Hans Hermann Groer, an Austrian friend of John Paul’s
who abused an estimated 2,000 boys over decades but never faced any sanction
from Rome.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger — who became Pope Benedict — had tried to investigate
the abuses as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, according
to Schönborn. But his efforts had been blocked by “the Vatican”, an apparent
reference to John Paul.

Stanislaw Obirek, a Polish theologian and a former Jesuit priest, said: “I
believe John Paul is the key person responsible for the cover-up of abuse cases
because most of it occurred during his papacy. How can someone who is to blame
for this be beatified?”

The paragraphs above and further sordid details of some of JP II's doings are
from a London's Sunday Times article:

Better to choose some other hero, Fr Ivo.

“Santo Subito! (Soon a Saint)” were the words to be read on several
plackards on the day of the death itself of Pope John Paul II. They were the
wish of the people who admired and loved him, in particular the youth. Today he
is Blessed. He is really “The Great”. He is simply universal. John Paul II has
left a rich legacy to the Church of tomorrow, to the society and to humanity.
Pope Benedict XVI beatified him on May 1, 2011.
When I heard about the novel of Morris West, Shoes of Fisherman, as
a student, I was eager to see a Pope of such a calibre, during my lifetime, and
succeeded. John Paul II has become a catalyst in the world history. The Pope
has brought out the Gospel message and its values to the socio-political arena,
to everyday life, to the man in the street.
Karol Józef Wojtyla was a bright student, a good sportsman, an excellent actor,
a strong worker, an excellent Professor of Philosophy, a good educationist, an
honest diplomat, a true statesman, a holy priest, a good shepherd, an excellent
bishop, a saintly Pope. He was simply great!

website. You may have been permitted entry as per paragraph 4 below. Others
may not be so lucky !!! I too know of many who have returned within two

QUOTE

FAQs ON RE-ENTRY WITHIN TWO MONTHS ON TOURIST VISA

•There should be a gap of at least two months between two visits to India on
a multi-entry tourist visa.
•Foreigners holding Tourist Visas, who after initial entry into India plan
to visit another country largely on account of neighbourhood tourism related
travel and re-enter India before finally exiting, may be permitted two or
three entries, as the case may be (need based), by the Indian Missions/Posts
subject to their submission of a detailed itinerary and supporting
documentation (ticket bookings). If they are already outside of their
country of origin, they can also get such an endorsement from the nearest
Indian Mission/Post.
•In other cases, re-entry within the stipulated gap of two months may be
permitted only in emergent situations like death/serious illness in the
family, non-availability of connecting flights to return to his/her country
of origin or travel to another country or any other exigent situation which
can be duly justified with proper documentation to the satisfaction of the
Mission/ Post granting the permission.
•Indian Immigration authorities in all the Immigration Check Posts are
permitted to allow such Foreign Nationals on Tourist Visas arriving in India
without the specific authorization from the Indian Missions/ Posts to make
two or three entries into the country (need based) subject to production of
an itinerary and supporting documentation (ticket bookings).
•Applications for re-entry permission (within two months of last exit from
India) on your multi-entry tourist visa, can be submitted in person with
proper documents and miscellaneous services fees of AED 30/- (AED Thirty) at
Visa section, Consulate General of India, Dubai, from 0830 hours till 1200

New Delhi, February 03 (QNA) - Churchill Brothers will not be waging a lone
battle in Abu Dhabi when they play off with UAE giants Al Wahda on Saturday
for a coveted berth in the AFC Champions League. With Abu Dhabi home to a
very large Indian, at that Goan community, it will be home away from home
for Indian champions Churchill. And also at hand to watch the match will be
the entire Indian national team, who will be training in Dubai from February
4-16. "For our team it will be like playing home away from home," Churchill
Brothers Club President Joaquim Alemao said Alemao, who is also the
President of Goa Football Association and Goa's Minister for Urban
Development, will be joined by his brother and club patron Churchill Alemao
in Abu Dhabi. "About 40-50 supporters from Goa will go to Abu Dhabi to cheer
our team. A lot of Indians, especially Goans, in the UAE are also making
plans to watch this match," he said. Indian sports persons are a huge draw
in the Emirates and stadiums have been routinely sold out, particularly for
tennis tournaments, as the sizeable Indian expat population turns up in
large numbers to cheer their favourites. The UAE-based Raul Fernandes, whose
passion is to bring the Goan community together for such events, has already
taken permission from Indian coach Bob Houghton to take the Indian players
for the match. "I know the Churchill team very well and have already started
publicity for the match among the Indian community." Recalling an Indian
national team friendly with Al Nasr club two years back, Fernandes said:
"Over 3,000 Indians turned up for that match in Dubai. I am optimistic that
Churchill will have great support in their bid to qualify for the AFC
Champions League.

Hi Gipsport:
Be used to criticism of religion/God. It is basically the intolerance
of criticism of one's religion that leads people to violence.

Anyway, God is fiction in the first place.

I SERIOUSLY advise that these type of emails should NOT be permitted. It is
a direct insult especially during this season and I think this person has
crossed the line and should be banned from Goanet.

I hope the moderators will take serious note of the comment by this
individual who has no sense of decency.

We take this opportunity to wish him a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Happier New
Year !

Just to clarify, I said the tournament is organized by Lucky Stars. It is
organized by United Goans and presented by Seven Stars Exhibition Organising
and sponsored by Arab Digital Distribution. The teams are fighting for
Pehla Cup. I believe that Seven Stars hold the license to hold entertainment
events and that the United Goans s composed of team managers.
Today (Monday), India team plays Al Nasr club in an exhibition match at 9:30
pm. It was announced at the Iranian Club that there are five Goans in the
India team which has stopped en route to its match, I believe, in Qatar. I
presume admission is free.

email was sent from a newspaper site - just to show you what they had to
say. No malice intended. Like you said each one has their opinion - No ill

Mario's statement sums it up. Anger at Ronaldo will be Man Utd's loss !
After all - in the football world they always say - Country First, Club
second , although the Club pays the wages and everything else !

Why cant they accept a loss? The better team won the day - England can
always try four years from now !

This is not the first time they were beaten by Portugal and that too in
penalties ! They should have learnt their lesson at Euro 2004 and should
have done their homework- It was Ricardo who stopped them at Euro and it was
Ricardo AGAIN at the World Cup ! So who can you blame? - no use crying over
spilt milk! Better luck next time - if they qualify !

He did not get his "Team Mate" sent off! His team mate has no big match
temprement! One does not stamp on anothers persons - let alone a players -
private parts! You should listen to Svens Press Conference earlier today, -
he has agreed the sending off was 100% correct. The winking - you may
interpret it in a different way - we interpret it as "They are one down (to
their own stupidity) so lets take advantage of it! " You want a dive - check
Lennon diving in the Portuguese box - now thats diving! Christiano- the
worlds best ball player will be in England come start of the season -
whether he remains at Man Utd or moves to a BETTER TEAM remains to be seen!
