Dear Friends for Calangute,
 July is the month of the feast of our Patron Saint St. Alex. It is fitting
that we turn our focus on our village. This is more so as it has always
been a month for relaxation and introspection, as the monsoon fury burst on
the shores. So it is a fitting that we use this month to build up data on
Calangute which can be used by future researchers.

 *Ismilda Research Consultancy (www.ismilda.com) *intends to collect useful
data which can be used by researchers, whether they are from Goa, Diaspora
or even visitors from abroad. With this in view we will store data with us
and share it with others. The data has to be e-mailed to us as per
instructions given below. We also intend collecting hard copies and other
data in the near future when we intend to hold a three day Festival on our
village.

Instructions :
1.Data is to be typed on word document  and sent as attachment by e-mail.
Our e-mail is ism...@sify.com or carmodso...@gmail.com
 2.Typed material must not exceed 500 words. It should be as brief and
clear as possible so that it can stimulate researchers on their independent
path. The material is not to feed researchers with ready made data.
3.The subject on the e-mail should be = Research Data.

 •Skeletal Biographies of giants that contribute to Calangute in any
profession from fisheries , agriculture, medicine, law, church etc.
 •Names and short description of particular  Vogge , Rampons , Tavernas,
Shops, flour and rice meals etc.

•Titles and short descriptions of books on the village or written by the
villagers.
•Any other interesting material
 Ismilda will be shortly releasing ‘Empowering Goa: A Manual of Projects
for School Students’ along with a CD which carries a presentation on ‘

The annual 'Balostav' organised by Bal Bhavan, Goa was held at the Dinanath
Mangueshkar auditorium Kala Academy, Campal, on May 17.  'Balotsav' is
being organized in joint collaboration with the directorate of art and
culture and Kala Academy. An exhibition of art, craft and clay items was be
exhibited at Kala Academy's on May 17th and 18th. The Chief minister Shri.
Manohar Parrikar was the chief guest and Shri. Vishnu Surya Wagh, Chairman
of Kala Academy, was be guest of honour.

[Goanet] Books by Dr. Carmo D'Souza, Calangute

Dr. Carmo D'Souza hails from the scenic shores of Calangute in Goa. He
retired on superannuation as Professor in Law from V. M. Salgaocar College,
Goa - India. Presently he is a visiting lecture and a Ph. D. guide at some
law institutions in India. His areas of specialisation are Private
International Law, Comparative.
Law, Comparative Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence and Family Laws of India
. Presently, he is also working on promoting a debate on a "World
Constitutionalism".
Prof. D'Souza holds Doctoral and Masters Degrees in Law from the University
of Poona and a Masters Degree in Mathematics from the University of Bombay,
besides having a number of specialised certificates to his credit. He has
authored a number of books on themes related to law as well as fiction i.e.
novels related to Goa. He is co-edited along with his brother “World
Constitutionalism” and “Civil Law Studies: An India Perspective, both
Cambridge Scholars Publication (U.K.)

[Goanet] Konkan Fruit Fest 2011

The seventh Konkan Fruit Fest at the Promenade along D.B. Bandodkar Marg,
between Kala Academy and Children’s Park at Campal, Panaji-Goa from was
opened today it will be from the 11 to 13 May, 2012 which is facilitated by
the Botanical Society of Goa and Corporation of the City of Panaji [CCP],
Panaji-Goa, together with the Dr. B. S. Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeet,
Dapoli, ICAR-Goa, Directorate of Agriculture and many other Government
agencies, NGOs, companies and individuals. This is a unique summer fruit
festival held in May since 2003.

Our lady of Piety (Nossa Senhora da Piedade) Chapel at Parra celebrates 
150 years.

The villagers of Parra celebrated 150 years of the chapel of Our lady of 
Piety at Parra. The Chapel of our lady of Piety was completed on 13th 
November, 1860


The priest in his sermon emphasized on the parents and children 
relationship and following the footsteps of our lady and Jesus in our 
day to day lives. He stressed on the view that today parents are not 
showing active interests in the children day to day activities and in 
not doing so the children tend to go on the wrong path. He also stressed 
on the fact as to how parents in their old age are put into old age homes.


He stressed on the life of Blessed Fr. Joseph Vaz and stated that he had 
great love for Mother mary and In 1677 at foot of the altar of blessed 
virgin Mary, church of our lady of heath, sancoale, Goa he wrote his 
letter (a classic) surrendering himself into her hands to be disposed 
off as she wished.


After the mass cake was distributed to all those present as the Brass 
band played its music.
