Re: [Goanet] [GOAN-NRI] The Canacona Tragedy and Joe Goa

2014-01-14 Thread aaron domnic dmello
that is really good work Joe .. keep it up

& from what you have described.. it does really look like a "paid press
conference"... not only because you were not allowed to ask... but.. there were
no strong questions asked

also read about he local volunteer who told how he had personally recovered
majority of the bodies, but was not allowed to do so after some days!

there is a big cover up going on ... a lot of people to be blamed & one
"scapegoat" arrested, but the 1st person who should be arrested was the one who
gave permission for construction by hill cutting & on paddy fields...

this is a warning to all the other such structers

[Goanet] The Canacona Tragedy and Joe Goa

Thank you guys for your supporting feedback

Well, why I was on this case?

I felt the authority concerned did not handle the situation

properly or humanely.

Whoever they are, they are human beings first. Imagine,  what they must
have gone through during last

few seconds of their life or whether they had any time to say ‘Deva Pau’

Coming back to JoeGoaUk’s work..

It’s not so easy now a day to carryout such in-depth or

investigative work just like that.

Not just because I am getting older day by day but more

so because I do not have ID

of my own, often, one may look at me as an intruder

or even terrorist for mine is not a known face.

My nature of work may be like that of a reporter,

journalist or photo journalist or online correspondent etc.  Or I may be
one of them but ‘unknown’.  I do not have

press media accredited card or

do not enjoy the related privileges offered to such profession.

I blame no one but me.

Few days ago, within Canacona Ruby Residency site,  an informal press
briefing

going on out in

the open near Adl. Collector desk (Main press conference was to

take place 2

hours later same venue for which national TV etc were also present). There were

5-6 local reporters / media men and others about 25 including me.

One reporter asked collector ‘ Any FIR have

been filed against those responsible..? ‘Yes’ was the reply from the collector.

Seeing that no one asking the next relevant question, I uttered ‘Any arrests so

far?’, the collector said ‘I don’t know’.

At this time a reporter loudly said ‘only the press

should ask questions and nobody else’ then he told collector with same voice ‘do

not answer anyone other than the press’

At this time I was about to open my mouth ‘why? Is this a

paid press briefing something?’ but held back fearing all camera would start
focusing

on me if I did that.

I find the reporter rather rude or questioning the Govt.

officers/Ministers is prerogative of press people only? Common Citizens have no

right?

2 days later, after gaining access to the residency with

visitor batch, I did try to gain access to the collapsed site hoping to take

some close-up pics. The police man on the desk said no one is allowed not even

press (when I said I am press) but saw some with cameras let off by them.

Third attempt,  11thJan., I was lucky to gain access to the collapsed site.

Took out camera to click photos, a medium built man in

plain cloth came to me

and asked ‘Tumi konn?’ (Who are you), pointing my pinned batch (issued

at the gate)

I said ‘Press’.  Went to

different place (away from his sight) and quickly clicked few pics. Then again

I went at the basement of the standing building where there were few others

including policemen watching the retrieving body operation. When I focused my

camera on the remaining uncleared collapsed portion, the same man from a
distance

stopped me in the presence of all including rescue workers. I gave up and came

out with the little footage i captured.

These are just the few incidences related to the topic.

Despite all this, I love what I am doing.

Some movies to watch during this festive season

Watch in theatre to enjoy it fully

I

Assassination  of former Indian Prime minister Rajive Gandhi

The Plot, the Conspiracy, the foreign hands, rebels, LTF,

Tamil tigers, Sri Lanka, Prabakaran, Bomb,

decoding of messages etc

I remember, back in UK, Srilankan Refugees were regularly sending

100 British Pound every month via direct debit to fund their god

figure like leader, this way they carried their mission from the

foreign funds.

After watching the movie, I felt as if I read a  whole book on

this episode run up to the assassination of the Prime Minister.

So beautifully depicted in ‘Madras cafe’

With John Abraham etc

4

II

Satyagrah, andolan, fast unto death, anti-corruption movement,

Anna Hazare type movement with his small team including an

advocate etc, Protest or hunger strike at Ram Lila Maidan etc

Slapping a Collector, Anna going to jail, Press / Media reporting, politicians
etc

Its based on Anna Hazare movement  except Anna in ‘Satayagraha’ dies

or killed in the end..

With Amitabh Bachaan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal

3.5

III

Remember Amitab Bachaan as angry young man in early 70’s?.

Well, this fellow a south Indian is also young angry man, I like his

role, full marks to Ram Charan, the son of a politician cum actor
Chiranjeevi

Full of Maramari or dishum-dishum a trend which is slowly making come

back to bollywood.

Of course, full of songs and dances too.

Some hot scenes in the bed etc made my day. The villain (Prakash Raj)

in an angry mood says to  his interruptive wife or mistress

‘ Mona darling, Tera muh sirf ek cheez ke liye kula rakh’  OMG,

we had a good good laugh..

Its  ZANJEER based on 1970s Janjeer

With hot Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt etc

Happy viewing!

Cine Agassaim

It was sometime in mid 80s it stopped functioning.

I remember, we went there for night show Movie ‘Saagar’

but the show was cancelled for want of enough customers.  (we still face
this situation at Ashok/Samrat Panaji)

The cinema house was run by a  few persons in the name of  Pilar
Society and the same society was also running Agassaim-Panjim bus transport

The cinema house still exists but in dilapidated

condition, growth of trees also seen on  the walls,  and the

whole roof has come down.

Re: [Goanet] Flight booking online - Money goes out of bank instantly but comes back after 7-14 days?

2012-08-29 Thread aaron domnic dmello

Joe,

even i was surprised why the bank would take so long, i guess they told you
the extra time,
just because sometimes things are not in their hands... i.e maybe they saw
transaction was
with Air India & that it would take a long time to recover the amount from
them

but it was not as complicated as they expected so it was fast, they told you
the LONG time so
that you don't get upset if things don't happen within the correct time...
or should i say

they were "buying time form you"

2012-03-17 Thread aaron domnic dmello

Hi Michelle,

i would suggest that you make your OCI, if your have not made one
yet.. i guess it will be better than the Adhaar card, because many
people say that adhaar card was just one of the many scams by Kamat
government.

many say that .. one of Kamat's relatives wanted to make some money ,
so he came up with this & awarded the contract of making the card to
them. I found the process very unprofessional i.e.. no proper checks
done on the legitimacy of all the "ghantis" who were in the queue, etc.

can anyone verify this about adhaar card

From: JoeGoaUk

Hi
This may help.
I think there is a centre now in Vasco too

British etc and yet they are in possession of Ration as well as Voters

[Goanet] Who is more communal?

2012-02-29 Thread aaron domnic dmello
With the elections just a few days away, we Goans are once again faced with a
tough choice,
between the corrupt & the communal. But developments in the last 2 months have
made me wonder
which is a more communal party. The one whose chief minister decided to cancel
the Good Friday
& St. Francis Xavier's feast holidays, or the party whose 2 candidates
indirectly attacked 2
priests?. The alternative to these 2 parties is a STRONG local party.

Not the ones which, as many say, awake from their slumber during elections,
but one which is
there all the days of the year to fight for the right of Goans, THROUGHOUT Goa
& not just in
the South or Salcete! Some may not agree with this, to these people I would
point out the
success of SP & BSP in Uttar Pradesh, Akali Dal in Punjab, NC & PDP in Kashmir,
DMK & AIADMK
in Tamil Nadu & even the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. Looking at their success I
feel sad that we
in Goa cannot boast of the same.

These parties gave a lot of attention to the affairs of the state & sorted
them out,
without having to wait for the "high command" decision & during the time of
National elections aligned with one of the major parties. I know it is too late
for this to happen, but I hope
that in this elections my fellow Goans give a strong verdict indicating a move
towards a
regional party, so atleast by the time of next elections we have a STRONG
regional Goan party

Re: [Goanet] Why Goan News Channels like HCN and GOA 365, are not included in packages of DishTv , TATA SKY, Reliance TV etc.etc.

2010-08-09 Thread aaron domnic dmello
when these DTH(direct to home) companies were started, they wanted to
have all these channels in their packages...
however all the cable operators got together & literally "begged" these
HCN & other channels not to broadcast on dish TV...or else they would
have had to shut down(cable operators).
right now...it is only because of these channels that, some people don't
want to switch to the DTH operators
