My remarks: Goa is being destroyed every single day. The shameless (and now
illegtimate) government of Digambar Kamat has no controls, no supervision, no
enforcement, no monitoring, nothing! It is a free for all right now. Just
yesterday the Utt Goenkara folks interceded in the illegal hill cutting going
on in Curca by one Bhagatsingh Sonaye attached to Goa Medical College (reported
in today's newspapers such as Tarun Bharat, Herald etc). That violations are
happening all over is known to those in the highest rungs of power yet they
look askance, or even collude to help the rich and the powerful. I would like
to know why, given all this, the GBA Convener Dr Oscar Rebello has issued a
paean to Digambar Kamat. The same Digambar Kamat and his Congress party who are
complicit in Goa's ongoing destruction. Now who is going to deal with this
Batim case? Regards,

  Parrikar,

Is the destruction of Goa every single day for the last 30 years or so,
Digambar’s master plan ? Successive politicians over these years are
responsible. Barking and braying for the blood of Dr. Oscar and Digambar will
only get donkeys and dogs around you ; not results. M. Parrikar and Mathany in
your warped vision are the genuine custodians of a prosperous Goa. Come on
Rajan, don’t harp on and play your tune selectively to discredit Digambar and
Dr. Oscar and exalt Manohar , Mathany and your tainted coterie. You are fooling
yourself not majority of the Goans.

  Hey Vinay,

You have given yourself away. You are a grown up with a mind of a school

the second one being the most tenable. Rane Jr. who led the toppling drama may

What a shame it is that our Goan politicos - of all national

that thrust 2011plan and SEZs on Goa. Are you seriously suggesting that ir was
Parriker who was responsible for these two massive land scams? Secondly, if GBA
and Oscar Rebello were so successful in protecting the goan land mass and
environment because of their agitation in 2007, how come within months people
of Goa had to come on the streets against SEZs. Was GBA asleep or was it
complicit? Do we know whether all the land conversions under 2011 have been
reversed? There should be no doubt that for the scrapping of SEZ, credit should
go to Mathany, firstly for keeping a lot of disparate groups together and also
for the master stroke of veiled threat vis a vis tourismthat ultimately
persuaded this corrupt bunch of congressmen and women to do away
with SEZ.. Oscar, unfortunately, got close to SVM and if you were there at the
Lohia Maidan meeting you would have heard the convener of SVM proclaiming his
support for Digu and Congress. So much for 'Apolitical' GBA!!
Lastly, as far as we know, Mathany has not been nominated for any award or
has he? Twisted thinking indeed. Anil Desai"

  Dear Anil

You are confused , politically blind. You need to be ashamed not astonished.
Which politician in the last two decades or so has not back stabbed to gain
personal political mileage? You tacitly sanctify Parrikar and Mathany and
castigate Oscar and deride the GBA movement. Name any seasoned hardcore
politician who has not involved in loot mar and wholesale destruction of Goa
for their own conceited and selfish motives. Name any politician who has not
politically horse traded for their own selfish interest. Name one. The highest
award possible may be conferred on him. Or are you suggesting that Parrikar and
Mathany are the best among the worst. Goa’s destruction , SEZ and scams are the
making of the corrupt politicians and their cronies who work at cross purposes
and confound confusion among the cross section of Goans. Which sane Goan needs
any further proof of this political insanity. Goa has spun out of control and a
few Goans on this forum too are involved in brick bats
and aggravating the situation instead of collaborating and working towards
peaceful and prosperous Goa. Not only twisted , confused, crooked and tangled
thinking And lastly Oscar has not gone fishing for awards. It is declared.
The Oscar award goes to the common people of Goa

[Goanet] SEZ - Creation of Politician

2008-01-06 Thread aura melisa
Hi everyone , congress and bjp , Mathany or any.

SEZ was not created by the comman man.

It was a creation of greedy politicians and their cronies. Mathany or any
politician deny this and prove yourselves.

Let any politiacian or their cronies stand up and say they did what they did
because Goans elected them to do what they wanted best.

Goa is gone and if the fight to save Goa needs to be continued, politicians
get out and sincere Goans get in. I know it's a point of not return - Goa is is
raped and beyond salvage. But as a Goenkar I know hope is there.

[Goanet] Advice to Mahatany.

2007-12-24 Thread aura melisa
Mr. Mahatany,

Here is some advice which will serve your purpose of getting rid of SEZ.

  1. Do not threatened poor innocent tourist who have nothing to do with the
SEZ
policy and permission to come into existence. I am aware the threat is to
the Government. But the tourist and tourism will bear the brunt.

  2. Threaten, get rid off, eliminate in the best possible manner the present
tribe
of politicians who are responsible for the situation today in Goa and
that
  includes SEZ.

  3. If you are keen and have the strength, the desire to stop the SEZ , pick
on
the politicians , the corrupt tribe of today and that includes you. Once
again
do not set the house on fire to catch the rat.

The River Princess

By John Silva Collaco

The River Princess for the last five years, defying logic and reason, sits
stoically on the once pristine beach of Candolim, unattended, disintegrating
and rotting.

In the five years politicians have ascended meteorically and descended into
oblivion . The Princess stood firmly, rock solid. The Governments have
changed along with ideologies. Flimsy and spineless bureaucrats zoomed in
and out , epitomizing sycophancy at its best. Five years of twists and turns
and inefficiency in successive governments. And an unexplained inability, of
all men in power and authority , to remove the defiant River Princess.

The panchayats of Sinquerim, Candolim and Galangute, the kingpins of the
coastal belt affected, have silently borne the brunt , remained mute
observers, only making ripples now and then with public statements and
futile efforts and lack of will to remove the Princess. Sinquerim, Candolim
and Calangute , arguably, the most powerful panchayats in Goa, has no
guts, firmness and will to dislodge the Princess form its ugly position.

And it is not only the Government and ministers to blame. Lack of public
participation and 'whose father what goes' attitude among the locals is to
be blamed besides the impotent ministers, cowardly bureaucrats and ignorance
of ecological damages the Princess has caused is one of the many reason for
the lethargic attitude of those in power to remove the eye sore.

Undoubtedly, one man ,the owner of the Princess has enough money ,clout and
will power to transform elected representatives into slumbering, ineffective
and willing stooges. How else can you explain the inability of successive
governments of all hue and shades to remove one ugly ship sitting for the
last five years on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. There is
a story making its rounds. Practically every politician has licked form the
hands of the ships wealthy owner. This perhaps is the main reason why the
Princess remains embedded on the shores of Candolim.

Where have all the men of guts, men of principles and morals have gone. Is
there no law to facilitate the removable of the Princess or proverbially
does the law remain an ass and a stubborn one at that? Unimaginable that no
man, no law, no legitimate action under the sun can move the mighty
Princess. Apparently, there is a lack of will and the reasons are not
difficult to fathom. Big time money, muscle flexing and political
inclinations are the factors overriding the removal of the Princess. Time
and again tenders are floated and awarded. Nothing happens beyond that. The
vicious circle begins again. Once again the tender is awarded. Will the
story end there? Or will the Princess reign in defiance?

Goans need to rise in unison in situations like these. When the Goa
government slumbers and allows Goa to sink to abyssal depths, men of
principles, foresight and courage should rise to the occasion. Surely some
brilliant and honest Goan lawyer can contribute toward legally and speedily
removing the ugly ship. Journalist and writers need to wield their pens and
compel lazy sleeping and corrupt politicians to wake up and act before its
too late. NGO's and other pressure groups, not politically inclined toads,
need to keep the government on its toes. Or else Goa will be gone long
before the Princess. (ENDS)
