REMEMBERING ALFRED
ROSE

Maharashtra Konkani Kala Sanstha,
Mumbai organized a Konkani Musical Drama- A tribute to Goa’s Melody king Alfred
Rose on his 80th Birth Anniversary on Sunday, August 5th
2012 at Yeshwant Hall, Matunga. The programme comprised of songs of late Alfred
Rose sung by his family members and other artistes.

The programme commenced with Dis
Tuzo Zolmancho  sung by all the performers.
Agnelo Fernandes from U.S regaled the audience with the rendering of Goenchi  
Feni and Wilma. Dev Nhidonk Na was sung by
Michael and Francis. Pravin D’Souza –husband of Alria delighted the audience
with Lady From Goa. It was nostalgic to listen to Mummy Mhaka Vengent Dhor by
Alria with her son Ethan. Antonette delivered Norischem Fugasanv. Joe Wallace 
with
his powerful voice sang Dona Paula-Juliana-Mandovi, and received an encore.
Saby and Kenny beautifully delivered Hanv Konknni Zannam which also had to be
repeated. Ansila who sang Novro Mhaka Zai also received an encore. Titta
Pretto, Carie and Paul Roamy who jointly performed the comic song Bhikunn
Martele received encore. Rita Rose rendered Put ani Sasupai whereas Evans
presented Tin Bolladik Hatiaram. . Antonete ad Carie sang  Kazari Bhoinnink 
Lagun. Pai tacho Bhikari by
Ancila, Alicia, Peter and Gable was also well presented. Bhero- a comedy skit
of late Alfred Rose from one of his musical shows was also staged. The audience
was all praise for Mog Mhozo Kortai by Alria and Celina-Luiza the
Bombshell  by Engelbert. The programme
concluded with Ami Soglle Ek sung by all the actors. The well organized function
which was attended by a packed audience was ably compered by Francis Fernandes
with snippets into the life of the late legend. It was heartening to note
senior actor Titta Pretto’ energy in his performance. A scholarship is being
instituted in the name of Alfred Rose to be given to upcoming singers.
