[Goanet] Neo Goan learns Konkani in Romi
As per Message appended below, Neo Goan whose mother tongue is Punjabi learns Romi Konkani. Now That makes me feel proud. Konkani is our roots and bond which binds our families together. Why the shame in learning and speaking Our Mother Tongue ? Do we need only our schools to teach it to us ? There are many like me who would also like to polish our knowledge of written Konkani. Due to lack of time and location many are not able to access the programs that are conducted only in Goa. I would like to suggest Mr Jose and Fr Pratap Naik, to have their courses in Video formats. They could be sold in the bookstores or uploaded on Youtube for Konkani lovers Worldwide yearning to learn the written language. It will be a great fruitful Investment for our Mother tongue. There are many programmes to learn on the net. Konkani could also be one of them. This will enable us to learn Our Mother tongue at our convenient time and place. The books can be purchased online or while visiting Goa. They can also be made available in PDF formats For the love of our mother tongue Konkani kindly consider the suggestion Thank you Message: 4 Date: Thu, 13 Nov 2014 02:52:48 -0800 From: Jose Fernandes konk...@gmail.com To: bbcbo...@rediffmail.com Subject: [Goanet] BROADWAY?S CERTIFICATE COURSE IN ROMI KONKNNI HELD Message-ID: cakovmrvh4yphfqwdq7q2fform0tq0kpf1crvry4vqdouxfv...@mail.gmail.com Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 A good teacher always takes the level of the students into consideration and I could see that type of teacher in Fr. [Goanet] Our Ancestors were ruled by Outsiders
Sub : Our Ancestors were ruled by Outsiders Centuries back the small princely states of the Indian subcontinent were fighting amongst themselves. If a house is divided than it is easier for outsiders to take advantage of the conditions. And sure the Mughals , British, Portuguese, French and all took full advantage of the conditions and ruled for hundreds of years. Value of human life if declining and materialism is on the rise. All this for selfish gains. Mutual mistrust and hatred is increasing day by day. The present generation is more educated than our ancestors. Do keep your eyes wide open. Do not fall prey to hatred. Well I only hope and pray that we do not start fighting among ourselves like our ancestors did. Long live India
[Goanet] Long term Visas 15 30years to PIO OCI
PIO/OCI to be issued long term visas HERALD REPORTER PANJIM, AUG 10 The Union Home Ministry has asked all the Indian missions abroad as well as the Goa FRRO to issue long term extendable visas to persons of Indian origin. Commissioner for NRI Affairs Eduardo Faleiro told reporters here that there were lots of complaints from the Goans who hold foreign passports that they had to come on tourist visas which is valid only for three months. I had received several complaints from Goans holding foreign passports that some of our embassies and High Commissions abroad, issue them tourist visas (valid for three to six months) at the end of which they have to leave the country though they have property matters to deal with and have families here, Faleiro said adding that following the complaints he had taken up the issue with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram. The home minister has assured me in writing that granting of tourist visas to PIOs was not correct and that he was advising missions concerned as well as the foreigners regional registration office in Goa to ensure that the long term visas are issued to the said category of persons and these visas are extended from time to time, Faleiro, a former minister of state for external affairs, further said. Faleiro also gave the media a copy of an official letter from Chidambaram, in which the home minister has appealed to all PIO to apply for the PIO or the Overseas citizen of India (OCI) card. If they apply for either the PIO or the OCI card, they can stay in India for 15 years (in case of the PIO card) and 30 years (in case of the OCI) card. I would request you to advise them to apply for either the PIO card or the OCI card, Chidambaram has said in his letter written to Faleiro last month. The union home minister has also sought a list of mission/embassies and high commission abroad who are in the habit of issuing tourist visas to PIO.
[Goanet] Prince Jacob should retire ! ! !
Sheela wrote: That guy and his crew have just forgotten the meaning of Tiatr.? Just keep yelling on the mike, and cracks all intenet jokes.? Only the old can have fun as they cannot access it.? ? just one opening? scene which too makes no sense to the whole drama, and he thinks he has won wonders.? If u know what I mean and it really exsits watch his earlier drama Aiz maka and Falai tuka. Tell him to retire. regards sheela comments : Make way Jacob, the above says time to retire. maybe she can do more better than you. may we also know what is the meaning of tiatr ? We have been enjoying the tiatr of Prince Jacob, though the jokes are sometimes known, but when demonstrated with their style on the stage, one can't stop laughing. And also his tiatr with their songs keep us informed about the current situations prevailing in our Goan Society. If one has been out of touch with Goa and more westernized than surely one won't enjoy our tiatr. Viva Goa

I am fully booked today. ? Well, what May 3 reminds you of? It?s feast of ?Sant Khuris? or ?Santa Cruz? In other words, it?s a feast of Holy Cross in almost all village/wards in Catholic dominated Goa. ? Why I am fully booked? Because today is the day where the situation is like ?demand is more than the supply? I am invited not as JoeGoaUk nor the real person behind it but? as ?ladin cantorist? for which I am am very gud at. ? How many bookings so far? Have accepted only 5 out of 11 on the basis of ?first come first serve? and the booking started as early as? January 2010. Today?s timing being 12pm,? 7pm, 8pm, 9pm 10pm ? What places? Ponnje (AM), Agxi, Cansale ani Utord?de ? Usually, whole Ladainha or ladin last for about? 25-30minutes but on this day i.e. feast day it takes about 35-45 minutes. This is because we sing feast special Ladin called ?Bhasha Ladin? which is comparatively longer than the usual one. ? Check here ther first part -Basha Ladin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvc1vJFoK-w ? How much do I get paid per Ladin? Me? I take nothing (others may take). Infact, as usual, I lose on transport/time etc. Again, I do not wait for the snacks and drinks services which takes place at the end of the ladin (I have to rush to other places, remember?) Ladin never start on time there is always 30-60 minutes delay ? I do it because ?I love to do it. And that?s all matter to me. When I was in my teens, I was good at it too, Big-big Bhatkars houses I visted at that time for ladins such as Curacao Jesus/Mari, Santan Saibinnichi Ladin, St. Sebastiao etc etc I remember seeing a fridge for the first time that run on kerosene in a big Bhatcar house ?Frans Mari-guer? close to railway tracks. Velsao. Willy-ghe girnikodde (now don?t exist). Close to it there was another big house called ?Masma-guer? ? Any message to others? Yes, infact two. 1. Youngsters should learn this ladin (Litany) to keep our tradition alive. Litany in Latin should also be encouraged and sung simultaneously (e.g. alternate days during the 9+1 Novena days etc) 2. Goa Government, Art and Culture, recongnises and felicitates each year under ?Kala Gaurav? Scheme etc. Hindu Bhajan and Kirtan singers are chosen each years.? Likewise, I would like to request our Govt. to recognise our age old tradition or services of Ladin singers too. There are not that many ladin singers left now.? ? [Goanet] ALBERT WRITES........ Does he need a Doctor ?
Albert writes...writes...writes ... ... writes. On reading his previous articles on goanet I assume that Mr Albert is frustrated by looking around him to find Catholics practicing a blend of rituals and beliefs not associated with Catholicism. For this He holds the Catholic Church responsible. To show a lost person a way is a good deed. Instead of blaming others one should do whatever best possible in his own capacity. If people are not willing to listen or understand what is taught is a different matter and no one other than the lost person is responsible for it. Do not rely on others but try to do your best to guide others individually. Every drop makes an ocean. As far as Mother Mary is concerned, one should know the difference between worship and intercession. Jesus performed his first miracle upon the request of Mother Mary who is our intercessor. So also in the Bible James Chapter 5 verse 13 - 20, we find intercession by the elders of the church for the sick. As for miracles, does God have to work miracles ? God is not dependent on man and is not obliged to work miracles for man. Keep writing more views and guidelines without any frustration in mind towards anybody, Mr Albert. God bless
[Goanet] CATHOLIC CHURCH NOT FORCING YOU TO .......
To all the Alberts, Pauls, Tom Dick and Harry having a grudge against the Catholic Church Coming from economically backward family, I am highly indebted to the Catholic Church for the upliftment socially, financially etc provided to me and my family. SVP society members have helped us by providing food, clothing, medical expenses. My schooling was done in St. Sebastain School, Dabul, whose Principal, my father used to approach to have my brother and my school fees paid. Moral values, missing in todays selfish world were thaught to us by the clergy and The lay people in the Church. We are financially much better and doing well today. All this due to the strengthening of our foundation by the Church and its lay members. We were helped due to assistance provided to the Church by its lay members. And there are countless more who have benefited from the Church and its affiliates. The Catholic Church, in most of the parishes, publishes in the monthly parish bulletin, its balance sheet stating the income and expenditure its incurs annually. Any blind person would know its difficult to operate such a vast network without finance, which the lay people provide. We have stray dogs barking at the caravans whilst it passes peacefully. The least providers OR those who provide not even a paisa are the ones who make a big noise and detract others from doing good. As Christians we are supposed to provide a tenth of our earnings to the Lord. Are we forced by the Church to pay ? never. Ful na pakdi tumcheam zata titlem ghalia mhuntai sermanvant amche Padri. Unless the guys barking belong to a different denomination and are envious of the Catholic Church flourishing due to the blessings of The Lord. If you have doubts than you can directly help the needy wherever you meet. But let not your right hand know what your left hand is doing for you will receive your reward immediately. They have eyes but cannot see, how relevant this words even today.
[Goanet] what is forced conversion ?
Is it threatening life to convert or face death ? or is it like a mother convincing her child to drink milk which is good for his health. Luke 9 :1 - 6 states : Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them. Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the Good News and curing diseases everywhere. It is not wise to talk bad about other religions but proclaim the good you have in your religion. I myself was on the verge of converting, but read a lot being talked bad about Christainity which I found mostly incorrect. This made me go deeper into studying Christianity, were I am now digging my roots firmly.
