It is party time 24x7 and 365x12 for children in Goa. For NGOs it may be an achievement to justify their western sponsored programs. It has become a fashion to adopt anything that one finds on the internet provided it can bring in the western moolah. So now Goa can have more recruits for drug peddling, sex trade and massage parlours in the lucrative tourism industry. This is like a Hindi filmstyle life, 'NO TENSION'. It is the teachers and parents who will face the tension of dealing with unruly students who now have the license to do what they like under the garb of CHILD RIGHTS. Even staring at a student with large eyes is to be construed as corporal punishment. The Education Minister may now be compelled to employ only teachers with large eyes to circumvent these half baked laws influenced by the west if there is supposed to be some disciplining in schools. The Right to Education has now become the Right to a Std. 8 pass. If you have not bothered to develop a study culture in your primary years of formation, you can try it from Std. 9. If you cannot manage to get serious you can drop out of school or suicide. The NGOs will be even than happy to set up more Child Lines and Crisis Centres. One can just imagine the plight of students in the class who are serious with their studies. You will have a bunch of students just uncontrollable who will disturb the environment and play the fool. What is the remedial action put in place for the helpless teacher? We borrow ideas piece meal from the west and apply it to an unruly India where even the thief is the king. God save Goa! -Soter
