[Goanet] BBC E-mail: India food grain waste revealed
In the message it was reported as follows: More than 1,300,000 tonnes of food grain - worth millions of dollars - went rotten in storage over the last decade in India, officials admit. http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/em/fr/-/2/hi/business/7489816.stm Now, if one were to analyse the figures, it would come to 130,000 tonnes a year. And considering that the production in India is more than 200,000,000 tonnes, the waste comes to less than .05%. Is there any system in the world which would prevent such a wastage? I personally doubt it, and so have to question the motive for putting up such an item on the site. Sachin Phadte _ Wish to Marry Now?
