Post Graduation in Business Journalism

Admissions are open to the 2nd batch of the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Journalism (PGDBJ) programme affiliated to the Goa University. The two –year programme is being conducted by VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao. Classes will be held for roughly three hours a day during week days. The unique programme is now open for fresh graduates, mothers with kids in school, and working professionals. PGDBJ is an innovative inter-disciplinary programme sanctioned by the U.G.C., Delhi, and Goa University will issue the diploma and the marksheet. Much of the coursework is practical. One of the consequences of India’s increasing power in the global economy is a soaring demand for trained journalists who can understand that exciting, complicated development and explain it, in depth, to India and the world. The Post Graduate Diploma in Business Journalism (PGDBJ) is designed to meet that growing need. The programme offers students the opportunity to master the fine points of business, finance and economics and to bring business journalism in India in line with top reporting standards.

The goal is to create a cadre of smart reporters, editors and public relations professionals who can enhance the understanding of economic and corporate developments in India and the world.

While emphasizing critical perspectives, the programme also stresses solid reporting, writing, and research skills, as well as technical expertise in print, electronic, and online journalism.

The two-year Programme consists of four semesters and a research report. Students of the programme can also take advantage of Professional Photography classes, Computer classes in software programmes used by the Media, Stock Market trading sessions, Video-Editing and other such add-ons.

Any candidate who has passed the Bachelor’s Degree examination of Goa University in any stream or equivalent examination of any recognized University securing a minimum of 40% of marks on aggregate or equivalent grade/or as specified for a specific course/programme is eligible for admission to the programme
