A rival to All India Chess Federation(AICF) is formed. Please note AICF (as per 
document received by me from Registrar of Societies, Chennai on 27/12/08) has 
no legal existence.

PRESS NOTE
 
With a purpose to review the present condition of the game of Chess in the 
country a meeting of Chess lovers, well wishers, organizers, Arbiters and 
Players’ Representative took place in New Delhi under chairmanship of Sri 
Naveen Kumar Wal on 11.10.2009.  It was discussed during the meeting that since 
last 4-5 years Chess players, organizers and State Chess Associations are being 
deprived of their rights and being treated as bonded labourers as well with a 
result that they are being humiliated each and every day.  To save all those 
from such humiliation and with an object of appropriate promotion and 
development of the game of Chess in the country it has been unanimously 
resolved to form a separate National Body in the name of “CHESS ASSOCIATION OF 
INDIA”.  Accordingly the office bearers of the Association were elected as 
followos:
 
President  :   Sri Naveen Kumar Wal, U.P.
Vice Presidents  : Sri Raja Climax(Tamilnadu),
Mrs.Ambika K.  Kutty, (Kerala), Sri K. Padam Singh (M.P.)

Secretary General:   Sri Mahesh L. Ved, Maharashtra
Treasurer    :   Sri S. K. Tewari, U.P.
Joint Secretaries    :   S/Sri Darshan K. Gupta (Delhi), Kuldeep
        Sharma (Haryana), Vikas Singhai(Chhattisgarh),
        Narayan Das (Rajasthan), C.Shashidharan Nair (Kerala)
 
As decided, the Chess Association of India has been got registered under 
Societies Registration Act.  Association’s activities are being started with a 
Chess tournament at New Delhi bearing Rs. 15 lacs prize money.  We are 
receiving consent from various Grand Masters and International Masters to play 
in this tournament.  After Delhi tournament we have decided to hold seven more 
tournaments bearing prize money of Rs. 5 lacs each at Bhiwani (Haryana), 
Rajasthan, Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Madurai (Tamilnadu) & Chandigarh.  
In the last in December 2010 we will organize a big prize money tournament 
bearing cash prize of Rs. 25 lacs.  Apart from these tournaments CAI will also 
organize regular National Championships and will concentrate on players 
coaching camps.
 
At the time of formation of Chess Association of India, 18 State Associations 
have joined this namely U.P., Kerala, Jammu Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, 
Correspondence Chess Association of India, Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, 
Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Orrisa, Uttaranchal, Chandigarh, 
Goa & Himanchal Pradesh.  In near future some more State Associations are 
likely to be association with Chess Association of India.
 
Chess Association of India is committed to create the chess atmosphere in the 
country so that no such player, organizers and State Associations are deprived 
of their rights and every one may get much needed support and encouragement for 
the development of the game Chess in the country.
