Dear Dr. Barad, Good point. Its another one of those skilled technicalities with these polticians. Obviously they know what to say when. This time around it was a good reason to pause, when it was brought to his notice that the government has accomodated two characterized as goondas. In such a case the political machinery jumps in to show that they are clean (if possible, without heavy fallout) and he, his cabinet as well as the party cannot afford to take this casually. He perhaps knew about it before hand. Now saying the usual, I will study the case and get back to you, invites more riducle and ha hah funies upon him -- as in Soddan baxhen/ baxin mhuntllem. Speaking for myself, I am no Chomsky, but linguistic twists will abound. Who knows there may be more to come. To each his or her machinations, given circumstances, and the realities as being created by them -- while some, including me keep attempting to understand their playbook. This is the tragi-comedy in our lives, even as it impacts us afar, while Goans get hurt on the ground. One more thing; right now we are hearing a lot of things about Christians --- particularly the politicians. Poor souls. But one hilarious and deprecating aspect that no one can deny is that these xristao montris are playings some serious ball. Even the system knows that once these Christians are brought down, the game of, lets just call it eminent domain can be accelerated at an even more furious pace. There will be no full-backs pretending they are a buffer between the goalkeeper and absolate abnegation of the masses. But as we keep seeing, not aesily accomplished. First the sold the dignity of an entire people, and now they are after the resources. I will not hazard a guess as to what folows next. The politicos all need each other in, perhaps up until the people and incidentally the women and students of all communities rise together and lead. This does not mean they are not leading, but that more people aligned to power whether through all manners of affiliations -- marriage, desires, largesse, promises are not shifting ranks in sufficient. It is another form of luxurious purdah, as in seclusion. When the strength and energies of women and students have clicked, some amazing things have worked in other places, including what we know of the Chipko Andolan in the Garhwal Himalayas. Local daily Sunaparant, dated 24/10/08, has published on front page a copy of document which was prepared by Office of Supt. of Police, CID, Panaji - Goa, dated 4/8/2000 bearing No: CID/CB/G-85/2000/3562/2000 with a subject title - Surveillance of Goondas, History Sheeters and bad Characters. The published copy indicates that names of Babush/Antonio T. Martins, Monserat - Miramar, and Joaquim Alemao s/o Braz Alemao, Varka-Salcete were included in Goonda list prepared by CID department of Panaji - Goa. This list was prepared by then Police chief Indradev Shukla. This list till date still stands unchanged!! This means that present government has accommodated two goondas as the ministers of Goa!
