[Goanet] DO NOT SQUANDER YOUR VOTE

2022-01-15 Thread Aires Rodrigues
These assembly elections are very crucial for our State as it could well be
the last where the Goan vote would be of any consequence.

Taking into account the importance that the coming elections would have in
defining Goa’s future, it is all the more important that we should not
shirk our fundamental duty of saving our land. So there is no question of
taking an "apolitical" posture at these elections in particular.

One does not have to contest elections but one has to be ready to take a
stand and support the party that could do justice to our State. It is also
very important to be alert and vigilant of those political parties that
have craftily surfaced to ensure that there is division of votes to
deviously benefit the BJP. This we should not allow as everyone after the
last ten years of horrific misrule want to see the BJP driven out of
Power.

It is no secret that politics governs everything in our society, so it
would be pertinent that we see the practical reality and now unitedly work
towards a better Goa.

Leaders need to have a vision and know where they are heading and leading
their flock. Goa is such a small State and could have been well managed.
Remaining mere spectators at election time would only further deteriorate
the pathetic state of governance that we are experiencing.

Let us take a conscientious stand and free this state from the current
alarming levels of corruption and maladministration that Goa is gripped in.
Something we cannot achieve by remaining "apolitical". And the February 14th
electoral battle is one we need to win for the sake of a secular and
progressive Goa.

RESPONSE: The 69,000 dollar question is, whio is the right candidate
and more importantly, which is the party of choice...you have given us
more headaches to contend with than answers !

Just today I have read that, a Trojan D'mello is standing against Foxy
Willy, a Jesuit priest, had remarked that Willy has done more harm
than good. If that is the case, what harm have people, the likes of
Babush, Luizinho, the Rane's done to Goa ?

People remarked here that Goa is being sold down the river by the
Centre, in todays GT: Goa receives very little in the way of 'take
home pay' from the mining industry...the cart loads are carried away
by the centre.

The Congress party, according to Victoria Fernandes MLA, are inclined
to break their undertaking, that no two members from the same family
would be given tickets for the present cominmg elections..we shall
wait and see ! Jennifer Monserate has applied for a ticket and so also
has Rane Junior !

[Goanet] DO NOT SQUANDER YOUR VOTE

The coming assembly elections are very crucial for
this state of ours. Going by the levels of migrants
steadily invading Goa, the imminent elections could
well be the last where the Goan vote would be of any
consequence.

Taking into account the importance that the coming
elections would have in defining Goa’s future, it is
all the more important that anyone having any love for
their state should not shirk their fundamental duty of
saving their land. So there is no question of taking
an "apolitical" posture at these elections in
particular.

the best candidate.

It is no secret that politics governs everything in
our society so it would be pertinent that we see the
practical reality and work towards changing the very
way politics is played.

Remaining mere spectators at election time would only
help continue and further deteriorate the pathetic
state of governance that we are experiencing.

Leaders have to have a vision and know where they are
heading and leading their flock. Taking Churchill
Alemao’s indecisiveness for example, what commitment
could one expect from his supporters?

Goa is a so small and could have been ideally managed.
We have too many politicians that Goa can do without.

We also have too many of NGO’s, many having the same
goals and objectives. We had ourselves formed last
year the Save Goa Front (SGF) as a people's movement
to campaign for a better state.

But when the Goa Bachao Abhiyan (Save Goa campaign)
took shape we felt there was no point in having two
organisations with identical goals and objectives. It
was appropriate to disband SGF for the consolidation
of forces to make a people’s movement with a united
voice.

Our politicians have pledged to uphold the Indian
Constitution but today they use every tactic and
manoeuvre to achieve their goal by subverting the
provisions of the Constitution to their benefit. Thank
God these politicians were not entrusted the job of
drafting the constitution.

Governments in power should act with responsibility
and not wait for the Courts to intervene in every
illegality they commit.

So let us take a conscientious stand and support the
party that can deliver and free this state from the
alarming levels of corruption and mal administration
that Goa is gripped in. And Save Our Goa for Goans, a
goal we cannot achieve by remaining "apolitical".
