Caros Amigos, Após um período de férias para recarregar baterias, matar saudades com a família e amigos, voltámos ao trabalho com a mesma vontade inabalável de promover a Língua Portuguesa e as Culturas Lusófonas na Índia e em Goa em particular. As aulas recomeçaram entretanto no CLP/IC no dia 13 de Julho com 2 cursos intensivos: Básico e Elementar. Como é habitual, as vagas para o curso básico (6 horas por semana) rapidamente foram preenchidas. Há ainda algumas vagas para o curso elementar. Na Universidade temos este ano duas turmas no M.A. (Master of Arts) em Literatura e Cultura Portuguesas, e um total de quinze alunos, o que nos obrigou a um enorme esforço para adequar a calendarização aos interesses dos professores (2 ainda em processo de colocação) e alunos, a maioria residentes em localidades algo distantes de Panjim, em Margao, Mapusa, Vasco, Verna, ou Quepem. Também no Chowgule College em Margao mais alunos frequentarão os cursos de Língua Portuguesa. Este ano o colégio oferece um curso intensivo de 3 meses (90 horas) em regime pós-laboral (nível básico) e cursos anuais (níveis básico e intermédio) integrados no horário da manhã dos alunos. Dando cumprimento ao Plano Anual de Actividades teremos em julho e agosto uma série de conferências sobre temas ligados às Culturas Lusófonas. Assim, já esta quinta-feira, dia 16 de julho, a Profª Dra Patrícia Vieira, Professora Asssitente do departamento de Estudos Portugueses e Espanhóis na Universidade de Georgetown, aproveitando a sua deslocação a Kerala para participar no Seminário Internacional “Forum on Contemporary Theory”, que se realizou de 6 a 12 deste mês, a convite do Departamento de Português da Universidade de Goa, proferirá uma palestra intitulada “Contemporary Literature in Portuguese: History, Memory and Utopia” no dia 16, pelas 15.00 horas, na Conference Hall da GU. No dia seguinte, dia 17 de julho, pelas 18.00 horas será projectado no CLP/IC em Panjim o filme português “A Canção de Lisboa”, um clássico de 1933, a rever e a não perder! A Dra Patrícia Vieira, que tem desenvolvido estudos centrados na relação entre as literaturas lusófonas e o cinema, a ficção política e o cinema no Estado Novo, fará uma breve introdução crítica ao filme. Aproveito esta oportunidade para desejar a todos um fantástico ano académico e as maiores alegrias no recomeço dos afazeres profissionais, e também para os que ainda vão gozar as suas merecidas férias de verão, os melhores votos de tranquilidade e descanço. Saudações muito amigas. * * * Dear Friends After a vacation to recharge batteries, meet family and friends, we are back at work with the same indomitable will to promote the Portuguese Language and the Lusophone Cultures in India, and in Goa in particular. In the meantime, classes have re-opened at CLP/IC on the 13th of July with two Intensive Courses: Basic and Elementary. As usual, seats for the Basic Course (6 hours per week) were filled fast. However, there are still some seats available for the Elementary course. In the University we have this year two batches for the M.A. (Master of Arts) in Portuguese Literature and Culture with a total of fifteen students, most of whom come from places quite distant from Panaji, such as Margão, Mapusa, Vasco, Verna or Quepém. Also in Chowgule College in Margão more students will attend courses for Portuguese Language. This year the college will offer an Intensive Course of 3 months (90 hours) after working hours (Basic Level) and Yearly Courses (Basic and Intermediate Levels) integrated in the classes held in the morning period. Continuing with the Annual Plan of Activities we shall have in the months of July and August a series of talks related to Lusophone Cultures. Thus, next Thursday, Dr. Patrícia Vieira, Assistant Professor in the Department of Portuguese and Spanish Studies at Georgetown University, availing of her visit to Kerala to participate in the International Seminar “Forum on Contemporary Theory”, which took place from 6th to 12th July, will deliver a talk entitled “Contemporary Literature in Portuguese: History, Memory and Utopia”, at the invitation of the Department of Portuguese of Goa University on 16th July at 15.00 hors, in the Conference Hall, GU. On 17th July, at 18.00 hrs, there will be screening of the Portuguese film “ A Canção de Lisboa”, a classical movie of 1933. A film to be seen and not to be missed! Dr. Patrícia Vieira, who has researched on studies focusing on the relation between Lusophone Literatures and the Cinema, Political Fiction, and the Cinema of the Estado Novo will give a brief introduction to the Film.
