At Bicholim Independent MLA Naresh Sawal’s 50th birthday celebration last
night it was a missed opportunity for the Congress Legislature Party (CLP)
to have its meet.
With Babush Monseratte expelled and Mauvin Godinho given away in adoption
to the BJP, the Congress has an effective strength of seven MLA’s some of
whom do not even see eye to eye, with every CLP meet usually attended by
only three or four MLAs.
But last night except for MLA Pandurang Madkaikar who is out of station,
all the other six Congress MLAs including Jennifer Monseratte in a rare
appearance congregated on one stage at Bicholim. They could infact have
used the occasion to have their long overdue well attended CLP meet!
The Congress after its March 2012 crushing defeat is yet to recuperate and
may never recover. At the ensuing March 2017 Assembly elections the
disastrous BJP is set to meet the same fate in its waterloo, with the winds
of a political change now already blowing.
To save what remains of Goa it is time that the young MLAs Vijai Sardesai,
Reginald Lourenco, Naresh Sawal, Rohan Khaunte, Babush Monseratte, Michael
Lobo, Pandurang Madkaikar, Vishwajit Rane amongst others move ahead in
planning the road map for the much needed political Parivartan that Goa
desperately needs.
