Re: [Goanet] Goa Mining Catastrophe

Gullible goans who cannot spot the devils in politics are going to stop mining?
Mining will cease only after Goans are wiped out. Goans are happy drinking
water enriched with maganese. For the time being do not spoil the parivartan
fever in Goa by making such embarassing disclosures. Who says mining is going
on. Uncle Parrikar has stopped everything. Are you not aware of the sob stories
televised about truck owners being driven to suicide? Goans are enjoying the
metamorphosis at present, swearing by parivartan.

[Goanet] Goa Mining Catastrophe

2012-07-10 Thread manuel tavares
The powerful Mining Lobby does not care enough for the environment as long as
they can profit from it legally or illegally. The only way to solve this
problem is to STOP all mining activities and reassess each case so as to
ascertain whether ALL the legal formalities are complied with including the
environmental issues. If it is found that mining activities conflict with
environmental issues, then the mine should be closed forthwith and only
reopened when these issues have been addressed to the entire satisfaction of
the authorities controlling mining. All other issues which crop up relation to
the mine should be resolved prior to the mine being allowed to reopen. This
will create transparency and ensure that there will not be an environmental
catastrophe.

[Goanet] Goa Mining Catastrophe

Whilst the current government appears to be better than the last one, my
concern is that the Mining Issue is still not being addressed seriously and if
action is not taken immediately, a catastrophe is just waiting to happen. I
understand that this is opposed by the Mining Lobby which includes
powerful/rich miners, who share a pittance with common man earning their
livelihood from this industry, and then these powerful/ greedy miner owners use
the common man in their campaign front to promote mining aggressively. Whilst
those in the mining industry might not be concerned about the devastation to
the environment, land pollution, air pollution which causes severe health
problems, I at least want them to choose between mining and water. Experts are
warning that we are headed towards a severe water crisis ; and strangely many
Goans appear to be very complacent on the issue and pretending all is fine. We
better act soon, else be punished by nature in the very near future, for our
current misdeeds!!
