Re: [Goanet] Goanet Digest, Vol 15, Issue 248
Now I have been made to look like a LIAR I dont remember the details but I do remember Johnny Alves Maybe he continued it or restarted it. Eve's Weekly would easily confirm I kńow the facts concerning both the song and the weeľy column.Did not imagine something good would turn so ugly and cheap I am wondering if you believe me! Re: [Goanet] Goanet Digest, Vol 15, Issue 248
Dear Joan, I did indeed receive your letter but chose not to reply after due consideration. While I personally believed your claim that your late husband George originated the song, you go on to say in your note that he also wrote the Madam I’m Adam columns in the Eves weekly. Having lived in Bombay of that time, I know that the column was penned by Johnny Alves and not George Fegradoe. This brought into question for me, your claim that George also wrote the song ‘I Married A Female Wrestler’. Are you claiming that George wrote the lyrics or composed the song or both? If as you say he didn’t write the notes of the musical composition, then would not the painter who actually did a painting and signed it have greater claim than the artist who merely visualized the scene? The You Tube interview with you of Frederick Noronha makes known but does not advance your case. You know for yourself that George came up with the song that endures till today for parties and dances where Indians and Sri Lankan’s gather and I suggest you let it go at that. Putting in a formal claim without real evidence will not help at this late stage of the game. If your husband thought it would be a bother to claim ownership then, you must let go of it now. In your mind whenever the song makes an appearance, you will remember your husband and that is a good thing. For your sake in my mind too whenever I hear that song, I will remember both George Fegradoe and Ernest Lawrence for after all the latter was the one who took it to fame. Roland. Attention. Frederick Noronha Your assistance is greatly needed! Regarding article by Roland Francis about I married a Female Wrestler. I replied and after sending ...the letters disappeared and I cannot find them and dont know if he received them. I am writing again and would appreciate if you would aśsist me in forwarding. I Mařried a Female Wrestler was composed by my late husband George Fegradoe for Colin Bastion (Bangalore)...He played it on his Chromonica and it was ńot written (which accounts for errors in the melody in some pläces). Some time later we were told there was a 45disc made of it. We noticed that it said 'Sung by ' ...and from my memory no other claim. We did notice the errorsrepetititve notes instead of little melody and he was disappointed. He didnt do anything about it I think it felt a big and unpleasant task . ( fyi a song of his Little Green Bird was published in Eve's Weekly based on our neighbour's parrot's whistle). He was naturally creative...he wrote Madam I'm Adam a weekly lighthearted column for 10 years or more in Eve's Weekly. AND SO ON. These are the facts.I have not put them together very well.(age 86). Also, couple of years ago in Goa I was interviewed.the copy is attached. If you can, could you assist me through this. Many thanks Regards.
