Valerie Valles' article really aptly describes the horrendous travel travails
in Goa buses. Whenever, I have to "unfortunately" avail of a bus, because of
the exorbitant prices charged by rickshaws and even pilot bikes, it's miserable
and I arrive at my destination absolutely asphyxiated. Can't something be done
about this? Or is one supposed to accept it as part of our Goan culture.
Moreover, can't auto rickshaws be forced to charge fair amount. It's one rate
for foreigners, another for non-resident Goans (e.g. Bombayites) and yet
another for Goans. Can't meters be enforced? Can't understand why some
discipline cannot be observed to make Goa a better place to live in.
