Home Minister To Challenge Court Verdict It is very ominous to note that Goa’s law and order machinery gets jammed at almost every junction. People of Goa are baffled at Mahanand’s seven acquittals. If all that was printed on the news papers was the truth, what actually has gone wrong with the investigation or the trial of Mahanand Naik ? If infact Mahanand is the serial killer, them he must be laughing off his ears at the stupidity of the law and order machinery of Goa as he is being acquitted with impunity on every count and other similar psychos must be licking their lips and planning some more gruesome acts.
People’s faith in the Goan system is thinning by the day, as we read and hear criminals going scott-free, and our men in uniform seem to be clueless about the crime or the criminals. Even if they are lucky to find one, then there are overwhelming chances that the person will get acquitted or disappear into thin air. So far, their efforts have been clumsy, comical and amateurish. That’s the reason why crime rate is very high in Goa, and the apathy of the government to restore parity is very much overt. The acquittals of Mahanand have been based on insufficient proof or lack of concrete evidence and it’s droll to watch our Home Minister trying to challenge the verdicts of the lower courts, is he really serious about solving this case or is he just trying to find a scapegoat or is he trying to restore his lost pride ? This are some obvious questions in the minds of people. Our Home Minister once had said that there were no drugs in Goa which very soon showed the ubiquitous nature of his stupidity, when an international drug smuggler was caught and let loose as he just conveniently and conspicuously vanished into thin air right before their eyes, only to surface in another country, wasn’t that the responsibility of the Home Ministry ? Has any action been taken against the responsible ? It makes one wonder if Dudu disappeared on his own or asked to disappear as he could have opened the pandora box and put the Home Minister in a fix. Our Goan police seem to be efficient enough only to clean and clear any evidence for the elite and apprehend and harass people who are raising their voices against mining and mega housing, for their right to live a decent life, whereas criminals, rapists, killers and drug smugglers just get acquitted or disappear into thin air. Our Home Ministry looks like an oversized sumo wrestler trying to find his own zipper, he knows it’s there but he can neither see it nor touch it.
