I have not aware of anyone from the HC in London having condemmned the attack/murder. I hope that someone by now has done just that. If not here are a few thoughts. Well we Indians talk a lot, but are always caught wanting even when it comes to making a timely "symbolic" gesture, and as a way of letting Indians know that their country is behind them. Five thousand years of civilization (Paanch hazar vorsanchi sonskruti) and basic gestures are hard for them. Even for political gains and goodwill at that! What do they teach these aadhunik Chanakyas—diplomats??!! And they are the first to say, how much they love Goa: yeah lab, louv, lav, luv Goa and its nice people. Everyone loves us.
If the information at the following not outdated; the Indian High Commissioner in London is Kamlesh Sharma. Fernandes later collapsed and died on October 20, 2007. It is indeed shocking to note that the Indian High Commissioner to UK did not condemn this act... International Transport Federation, UK, General Secretary David Cockroft should take up this issue of racism with the Home Department in the interest of all international seafarers, as such ugly incidents will only leave behind hatred and bitterness.
