Innocence and Double Jeopardy.

Preface: The following case is entirely fictitious. The questions and comments
are generic. It is NOT related to any Past, Recent or Present case in Goa.

HYPOTHETICAL CASE 1:

Samantha (S) is preparing to commence her Ph D thesis. Her guide is Professor
Macchar (M) who has the notoriety of being a serial rascalito. This is known to
many of his colleague Professors, some of whom are no saints themselves.

S has been cautioned by recent graduates that M will make two demands: (1) All
of S's published research work would have to have M as the first author, even
though M would play NO role in the research (2) M could call upon S for special
favours.

As it turns out, Macchar continues his behaviour of pestering his juniors for
'favours'. Samantha turns him down.

Question 1: Do M's colleagues have a responsibility to intervene? IF SO, what
form of intervention should that be?

Question 2: Should they have acted earlier?

Question 3: What Legal provisions are present or should be in Goa for the
Prevention and Remedy of this hypothetical situation ?
