As part of the ongoing activities to celebrate Goa Chitra’s 5th anniversary, the Dona Angela Memorial Trust and the Management of the Goa Chitra museum invites you to an exhibition of the Eight original pens on paper drawings by Dom Martin that adorned the cradle on which St. Francis Xavier's sacred body was exhibited at the 1974 Exposition. On this occasion together with Fr. Dr. Eufemiano Miranda we invite you for a performance by the STUTI Choral Ensemble. Warm regards, Victor Hugo Gomes (Curator Goa Chitra and Goa Chakra Museums) www.goachitra.com 09850466165 PROGRAMME AND DETAILS: 5.00 PM - Inaugural of the exhibition: Eight original pens on paper drawings by Dom Martin that adorned the cradle on which St. Francis Xavier's sacred body was exhibited at the 1974 Exposition shall be exhibited during the entire period of the exposition of sacred relics of St. Francis Xavier from the 22nd of Nov 2014 till 4th Jan 2015, at the Dom Martin Art Gallery, Goa Chitra Museum, Benaulim. The eight original drawings depict the different facets and life of St. Francis Xavier and include “The Birth”, “Quo Vadis”, “Conversion”, “Dream and Passion”, “In India”, “Voyage to East”, “Opening the door to Japan” and “The last Journey”. The drawings were symbolically embodied to the saint's sacred body during the 1974 exposition. All the drawings are bequeathed to the Goa Chitra Museum by the creator and renowned Goan artist, Dom Martin who is presently settled in California, USA. 5.30 pm - 2013-14 Vincent Xavier Verodiano Award Ceremony: The Vincent Xavier Verodiano Award is awarded by the Vincent Xavier Verodiano Foundation. The objective of the award is to promote the wellbeing of mankind through individual advancement in the field of art, music, literature, science, medicine or humanities. The award was founded by Dom Martin in 1989, in memory of his late father, Vincent Xavier Verodiano. This year the prestigious Vincent Xavier Verodiano Award has been conferred on Antonio Moraes and Vasco Pinho for Literature. 6.00 pm – Live Performance by STUTI Choral Ensemble: Stuti was born in 2009 as a response to a deeply felt need, among music lovers, to have in Goa a mature, mixed four voices (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass) choir. It’s a 27 member dedicated ensemble which compromise of cross-section of various professionals that include college students, lawyers, medical doctors, teachers, business persons and other professionals. Managed by Fr. Dr. Eufemiano Miranda and sponsored by Tehmasp Engineer (London / Betalbatim, Goa), the aim of STUTI is to keep alive the long tradition of choral music in this State. Pieces of world music repertoire as well as Indian, principally Goan, religious or folk music of all genres are chosen for their programmes.
