Pakistan has long been in the Chinese fold. Because of its traditional enmity
with India, Pakistan is completely beholden to China.
Kashmir is a thorn in India’s side. India has not played its cards right with
the Kashmiri people while Pakistan has made all the right noises, not the least
of which is dealing from the religious deck. China supplies arms to Kashmiris
via Pakistan.
Tibet grabbed by China in the manner and on the same grounds as India grabbed
Goa, is the direct point of Chinese incursions into India’s border areas.
The North Eastern States have always felt left out from the Indian mainstream
although India has tried its best to integrate it. The culture is more Chinese
and Western than Indian and the Christian religion brought in by British
Missionaries which dominates the tribes that populate these states accentuates
their difference.
Bangladesh one would think would be eternally grateful to India for having
separated it from former Pakistan, but this is hardly the case. One of the two
strong women of Bangladesh Khaleda Zia is completely at loggerheads with India.
Power keeps swinging between the two women. These is always tension with
Bangladeshis illegally immigrating into India to escape poverty and being
sympathetically treated and ultimately absorbed into India’s Muslim population.
Bangladesh being too poor to buy its own arms, fully supplies its armed forces
with willingly donated Chinese materiel from tanks to ships to aircraft.
China’s predatory economic policies are its best tools to dominate Nepal, Sri
Lanka, Myanmar and Maldives. China refers to these countries as its String of
Pearls. Sri Lanka specially is being targeted with the latest news that a
no-condition gift of $275 million dollars has been given to the President to
use on any development he wishes.
India has the friendship of the United States to counter China. However this is
a fickle friendship at best and at worse a farce, as under Trump.
