[Goanet] Is the war over ?

2022-10-06 Thread Antonio Menezes
With the reunification of four rich regions of Ukraine with the
Russian nation, it would appear that the war in Ukraine for all
practical purposes , is over at least for Russia.
Russia , for decades to follow , can tolerate pinpricks by
Ukrainian forces every now and then. It may also mean that
Ukraine could lead the Nato countries to bankruptcy for how
long can the Nato keep on supplying gratis war equipment ?
Even the US will feel the pinch sooner rather than later.
In the end, Russia will be weakened, however, the West
may go economically bankrupt.

BICHOLIM MARCH 1: The tug-of-war between the cricket players from Sanquelim,
SMC and the Pale MLA is likely to mare the

organisation of Apraant Maand on Bodke ground at Sanquelim.

It may be stated that the GHRDC would organised the 15-days 'Apraant Maand'
on the Sanquelim ground from 4th March. The

locals and the players from Sanquelim have strongly opposed the move of the
MLA who has told that the exhibition would be held

on the same ground inspite of the opposition.

Addressing a press conference the SMC chairman, Anand Naik told that they
are not against the exhibition but it's venue. We are not against 'Aprant
Maand' to be held in Sanquelim but we don't want it at the Bodke ground
Naik told adding SMC has already revoked the NOC given to the exhibition
still the MLA is adament and want to have it on the ground.

We would not stop it but if the people create any problem on the day we
should not be held responsible as the players and all the people from
Sanquelim are against the exhibition being organised on the ground Naik
disclosed the MLA was communicated about the decision but he did not pay
heed to the pleas of the people.

It may be stated that Bodke ground at Sanquelim is used by the people to
play cricket and other matches. The SMC received two applications for 4th
March concerning the ground one was that of the 'Aprant Maand' moved by the
pale MLA while the other was that from a local club. But instead of calling
both the parties the Chief officer, Bhanudas Naik under the pressure of the
MLA gave NOC for the exhibition and the controversy started.

The women and all the self-help groups should know that we are not opposing
the project and we want that their talents should be displayed but we only
demanded that the exhibition be held on a different venue councillor,
Sunita Verekar told.

Meanwhile, the Pale MLA, Pratap Gawas through a meeting has already declared
that the exhibition would be held on the same ground from 4th March to 15th
March which would give exposure to the artistic items prepared by women from
self help groups.
