American's, including those of Goan origin, are far more intelligent to

Jim,

How is one supposed to debate someone like you who lives in New York but has no
idea that a) we had seven years of growth in the US under President Bush 41, b)
has no idea how Bill Clinton's policies throughout the 90's led to the
terrorist attack on your city, and c) has no idea of how it was the Democrats,
including Barack Obama, who were at the forefront of forcing the banking system
to lower credit standards to encourage low income Americans to buy homes rather
than rent?

Did you even know that Barack Obama was the HIGHEST recipient per year of
political contributions from the PAC's of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to protect
them from closer scrutiny, along with other Democrat Senators and Congressmen
like Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and Charles Schumer?

Regarding Obama working with you guys, can you cite me any examples of where
Barack Obama has worked closely with Republicans on anything other than sign on
to one piece of legislation they authored on reducing nuclear arms? Isn't it a
fact that he has voted 100% with his Democrat colleagues in Congress?

Do you ever let facts get in the way of your emotional and hysterical
diatribes?

Here, once again, is my version of George Bush's legacy. See if you can post
some facts that contradict what I have written or something I may have missed.

http://www.israpundit.com/2008/?p=2749

Finally, I am going to be interested in seeing how Obama is going to satisfy
Warren Buffet on one side and George Soros on the other. Patriots like Colin
Powell and Merrill McPeak on one hand and anti-Americans like Rev. Wright, Fr.
Pfleger, Bill Ayers and Louis Farrakhan on the other. The Palestinians, Al
Qaeda, Hamas and Iran on one hand, who all endorsed him, and the Jews on the
other, who will now find out what REAL survival is like with an uncertain US

We will all find out soon enough.

Common Mario, I thought the debate was OVER last night! Haven't you been

name is Barack Obama. And he is a Democrat. An overwhelming majority of
Americans agreed with Obama's idea of what America should be doing to fix our

Just to make my point, if Mario's arguments in support of the Republican party

The only answer comes to mind, is ofcourse the aptly titled subject line of
this thread: It's the economy, stupid.

I re-read the excerpt that you have chosen from the post by Chris Vaz and your
response above, and fail to see how they would have committed treason. At
most they would have committed ignorance, since, even allowing for some
rhetorical flourishes by Chris, the essential facts are all fairly accurate,
and stand unrebutted on Goanet.

Santosh wrote:

Mario responds:

I detect some sarcasm here, unless you have suddenly woken up this morning
reincarnated as what we would call a far right wing loon when you refer to
Obama as a Muslim and anti-American Marxist, and an Arab born in Kenya:-))

No responsible political opponent of Obama has referred to him as a Muslim. In
fact, his opponent is on record as telling an ignorant supporter that Obama is
not an Arab and is a decent family man.

Even though he was listed as a Muslim as a small child on a school registration
form in Indonesia, Obama has been a practicing Christian for the last twenty
years, courtesy his mentor and close family friend, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who
also professes an Afro-centric version of Marxism known as Black Liberation
Theology. Obama is unquestionably a decent family man, and his place of birth
would not, by itself, disqualify him if at least one of his parents was an
American citizen when he was born.

Though some of his close political and religious associates and mentors from
Chicago are clearly anti-American and avowed Marxists and unrepentant domestic
anarchists, I would not describe Obama as an anti-American Marxist. However,
Obama has clearly professed a belief in certain Marxist economic principles,
having to do with higher tax rates on upper income Americans, which may or may
not increase actual taxes collected, redistributing wealth by government fiat
and sharply increasing the role of government in the day-to-day lives of
citizens, principles that have never been used to the extent he is suggesting
in the USA previously.

In my opinion, a big loser of an Obama presidency will be India, mainly because
of the deeper economic slowdown that will result if he lets the Bush tax rate
cuts lapse, which will raise the tax rates for all Americans, even before he
implements his own tax plans, and the protectionist trade policies he has
already promised his union supporters will be among his highest priorities.

Which is why I find it amusing and ironic to see his support among Indians in
America and India. Not to mention their ignorance of the contempt that many
educated African-Americans hold for educated Indians.

Anyway, Chris has listed his concluding expectations in some detail, and we
will be able to monitor these in the months and years to come - if Obama wins
of course.

Dang! I forgot to mention this. Also, George was kind enough to give us a lot
of information that I was not aware of. The biased Obamamania mainstream media
has a worldwide conspiracy to hide such important information. In addition to
the above, there are many other conspiracies. Let me just add a few before the
polls close. It might be too late otherwise.

Focus on the term community organizer, and ask yourself who else was one. Yes,
Charles Manson, the murderer! Indeed, Obama is part of a sinister community
organization that is home to many murderous cults. There is also an
Afro-centric conspiracy to redistribute America's wealth with Africa, and
spread that wealth to Obama's many lazy and impoverished relatives who are
living in Kenya, Indonesia and other Arab countries like that, as well as
several who are living as illegal immigrants in public housing in the U.S. Joe,
the plumber has been approached to install complimentary tankless water heaters
for them.

Another conspiracy is that Obama has signed a secret pact with Hamaz and Fatah
to liberate Jerusalem from Israel. There are also conspiracies with mainstream
media to hide the fact that more school children have died on the streets of
Chicago over the past 5 years under Osama's watch than soldiers in Iraq, and
with Black Panthers to rig the polls in Philadelphia.

Cheers,

Santosh

This is false. The lowering of lending standards was taking place across the
US, not just California. This started under President Carter and was expanded
under President Clinton when his attorney general was threatening banks with
lawsuits if they did not comply.

This situation has nothing to do with obsolete banking laws from the 20's.

Two years John McCain tried to oppose what was happening and was voted down by
the Democrats, including Obama, who were all intent on spreading the wealth
by forcing the banks to lend to low income people, who eventually were unable
to repay their loans..

In western Europe, where there are far more regulations and controls the
situation is just as bad if nor worse. So, much for regulations, when one
political party is intent on spreading the wealth.

Those blaming Bush and McCain are just plain ignorant of the facts.

wrong. For this, the Republican party paid a heavy price tonight.

Barack shall work with you guys, as well as the Democrats, to ensure the
economy turns around and create more opportunities than we ever had in the past
eight years.

If you aren't yet ready to digest the fact that Barack would be our new
President come January, I'd recommend you guys to go hibernate for the next 8
years (not just 4) and wake up in 2016. By then, the world would be a lot
peaceful place, we shall have a much stronger economy and America would have
mended strained relationships with many other nations overseas.

As far as I am concerned, there's no question that the Republican party

cold facts and not pure emotion. To begin with there is no such thing as a
Texas
oil mafia. Perhaps you are unaware that it is the Democrats that have blocked
all new oil exploration and drilling in and around the continental USA, have
opposed new oil refineries from being built since 1976, have opposed coal
 fired
power plants, have opposed oil shale mining, have opposed building new
 nuclear
 power plants.

In addition, the US economy grew for seven of the last eight years after
 Clinton
left office and handed Bush an economic slowdown, and had weakened our
 defense
and intelligence capabilities which enabled 9/11 to take place.

It also depends on which facts are important to you.

Bill Clinton's first budget proposal in 1993 showed $200 BILLION in deficits
 for
every year in the budget period, which proves he had no clue as to how to
control deficits, even with his increased taxes.

He was bailed out by a) the revolution in computer and communications

Congress and implemented balanced budget proposals after the debacle of
 Hillary
 Clinton's health care proposals.

By the end of the Clinton presidency the economy was in decline leaving
President Bush with a recession to deal with.

In addition, the Clinton presidency, by failing to respond to the series of
attacks on the US and US interests throughout the 90's emboldened Osama Bin
Laden to ostentatiously declare was on the US, and call the US a weak horse
who would be unable to defend itself against Al Qaeda, which he called the
 strong horse.

The Clinton administration also refused to take Bin Laden after he was
 offered
up by Sudan THREE times, because Clinton said he did not have legal probable
cause to hold him even though Bin Laden had taken credit for several attacks

then. This has been documented by Pakistani businessman and the go-between,

The Clinton administration also refused to give the CIA permission to shoot
 when
they had Bin Laden in their sights in Afghanistan THIRTEEN times. This has
 been
documented by the CIA agent in charge of the operation, Michael Scheuer.

The Clinton administration also banned the CIA and FBI from sharing
 information
on terrorist movements and banned the CIA from gathering information from
 people
 they considered unsavory characters.

All this led directly to the attack on 9/11/2001 right in your backyard in
 NY.
 I doubt you or anyone

I doubt you or anyone else on 9/15/2001 believed that Al Qaeda would not attack
the US again, but they have been unable to do so now for over seven years,
mainly because the Clintons and the Democrats were no longer running the
country in the immediate aftermath of 9/11.

After the Bush tax rate cuts in 2002 - 2003 the US economy had seven years of
moderate growth with low inflation, until the house of cards that Jimmy Carter
and Bill Clinton had built by forcing the banks to lower lending standards in
order to spread the wealth to low income Americans who would normally rent
their houses, came tumbling down bringing the stock market with it.

This may be a good point to remind readers that the financial mess extends to
several major countries in Europe and the Far East, which have far more
stringent controls over their economies, which has led to a resurgence in the
value of the US$.

I expect the current US elections to be a non-event. Its a foregone
conclusion that the grand old elephant would collapse with its own weight.
Its a good feeling to know that my horse ... errr ... the donkey is in top
form - sleek, agile and ofcourse packed with a high powered delivery system.

Chris comments: If Jim had taken the trouble to do a little
research -- and be less judgmental -- he would have discovered that George
Bush had inherited an economy in recession.. Through the introduction of
the two tax cuts the economy recovered and the country prospered through his
presidency, with the exception of the current year. Annual GDP was in
excess of 3%, which is considered excellent for a country like the US, with
a developed economy. Unemployment was at 5%, the lowest in decades. Interest
rates were also low. I have a sneaking suspicion that Mario will have more
to say on this subject, in his inimitable fashion, but let us lay the blame
for the current malaise where it rightfully belongs -- on the Democrats, who
brought on the current fiscal mess. It will take a little explanation, but
here in brief, is the timeline:

In 1977, Jimmy Carter, pressed by grassroots organizations, signed the
Community Reinvestment Act to boost home ownership in poorer communities, by
making home loans affordableregardless of the borrowers' ability to repay
the loans..

In the 1990s community organiser Barack Obama worked closely with ACORN
activists, employing intimidation tactics of radical activist Saul Alinsky.
These activists crowded bank offices, blocked drive-up teller lanes and
demonstrated at the homes of bankers to browbeat them into lending to poor
and minority communities. Those banks who resisted were accused of racism
In fact, BO was co-plaintiff with Acorn in a discrimination lawsuit against
Citibank. Rep Jim Leach warned about the impending damage that nonregulated
GSEs (Govt Service Enterprises) posed. He worried that Freddie Mac and
Fannie Mae would be transforming these agencies into money machines for the
stockholding few. Rep Barney Frank, the then and current chairman of the
Financial Services Committee, countered that the agencies served a public
purpose..

In 1994 Bill Clinton exacerbated the situation, addressing the housing issue
thus: I am committed to an unprecedented partnership between industry and
community leaders and government to recommit our nation to the idea of home
ownership and to create more homeowners than ever before. .

In 1995 Republicans won control of Congress and planned reform of the CRA.
The Clinton admin aligned with Barney Frank, Ted Kennedy and Maxine Waters
(D-Cal) and did an end around and directed then HUD Secy to inject GSEs into
the subprime market. Cuomo said GSE presence in the subprime market could
be of significant benefit to lower income families, minorities and families
living in underserved areas. In 1998, by falsifying signatures on Fannie
Mae transactions, $200 million was transferred to later periods, triggering
$27 million in bonuses to top FAnnie Mae executives. Treasury Secy Larry
Summers issued this warning: Debates about systemic risk should also
include GSEs, which are large, and growing rapidly... Disregarding
warnings, and under pressure from the Clinton admin, Fannie Mae eased credit
requirements on loans it would purchase from lenders, making it easier for
lending to borrowers unqualified for conventional loans. NINJA (No Income,
Job verification or Assets) loans became the rule rather than the exception.

In 2000 the Senate Banking Committee noted that as a result of the CRA, $9.5
billion in expenses had been given to ACORN and other organizations. (It
must be noted here that Barack Obama was an ACORN lactivist trainer, their
lawyer, and the second largest recipient of Fannie Mae's largesse)..
Several individuals and organizations, including the WSJ, Competitive
Enterprise Institute, Treas.Secy John Snow, Repub senators Chuck Hagel,
Eliz. Dole, John Sunnunu and John McCain, as also Rep Richard Baker (R-La)
all warned that financial trouble of large GSEs could cause strong
repercussions in financial markets, affectng federaly insured entities and
economic activity. Sens Sunnunu, Dole, Hagel and Mel Martinez introduced
legislation to improve GSE oversight. They got nowhere.

In 2004, Rep. Maxine Waters said We do not have a crisis at Freddie Mac and
particularly at Fannie Mae, under the outstading leadership of Franklin
Raines (who went home with a $90m million bonus along with other top
executives with similar outrageous bonuses and salaries). Barney Frank
told Treasury Sec. Snow: I do not think we are facing any kind of crisis

I just loved to read the article - C'est la economie..S'il vous plaint -
that appeared in GT, for I love that language. But as I continued reading, I
felt my Oxygen supply is getting cut off!

The phrase which Oscar quoted was tossed up by presidential advisor
political strategist in James Carville, the highly regarded Democratic
political operative from Louisiana's bayou country, which helped keep the
1992 Clinton campaign in focus and on message with a simple four-word
phrase - It's the economy, stupid.

To me his misquote appears to be his typo error (I consider it before he
say's so) or may be ...another Task Force gimmick...or...?

Have a re-look to his post in GT. Check how Oscar starts his article with
CATCHY TITLE . and has he continues further he appears confused? He even
forgot that, today American's, especially working class, are uneasy about
the economy, and they are up in arms telling Bush at White House (with
rephrased phrase): It's the TAX hike, stupid!

Having expressed this, Oscar's confused mind, confused thinking, and or his
typo mistakes - what ever it may be - has created waves, speculations,
raising unwanted question marks all over Goa. Any way Goans will have to be
watchful on --who says what?

Nevertheless, it's interesting to take this phrase further and check it's
applicability to Goa!

Today in Goa, the prices of every thing - Roti, Kapda and Makan including
Goan favorite FISH - the basic requirements of Aam Admi - are shooting sky
high day by day! Why? Did any one paid attention to this issue? Why at all
a politician should decide even what Fish Goans should be eating tomorrow
and at what price?

Well, friends, all this is happening at the command and blessings of our
favorite Congress MLAs and Congress Ministers. Congress regime, for past 2 -
3 years, has created mess in economic security, health, housing
affordability, environmental sustainability, and cultural vitality. They
have not only influenced and screwed our democratic participation and public
policies but compelled Aam Admi come on roads in 2007. In reality, Economy
should have been the servant of society, but these politicians have changed
the meaning of economy upside down and made society the servant of the
economy!

Above statements have been picked up by me from what I heard at GBA meetings
during Regional Plan agitations, where GBA members had literarily washed
congressmen using CORRUPTION soap! Same statements were also heard during
anti-SEZ agitations of both the groups!!! And also during IT Park
agitation Some of our Goanet members were also vocal on CORRUPTION
charges against Congress regime during one or other agitations that shook
Goa upside down in the year 2007! OR should I say 2008 is going to be an
ERA of CHEMELIONS CORRUPTION - quick bunks quick fucks!!

Friends, at the end of the day its THE FACT prevailing in Goa for which I
have every reason to rephrase the original phrase of James Carville and say:
IT'S CONGRESS POLITICIANS, STUPID; ITS CONGRESSMEN, STUPIED; IT'S CONGRESS
SUPPORTERS, STUPID; its...

(MOG ani FOG SODANCH ASPAK JAI, DEV TUMPKA BORI BUDH DIV).

Best regards,
