Half a century ago, females could befriend females but they couldn’t befriend
men – not at least publicly. Today, women are equal to men in every respect.
Barring a few states, men and women mix freely without any restrictions. Of
course, freedom comes with a price tag attached to it and this is why we have
more problems today like eloping, committing suicide, etc than in the past when
lovers kept up their promises and stuck to each other till the end. At one
time, the good old saying 'variety is the spice of life', was applied to men
only but now it is applicable to women as well.
The following short Konkani joke taken from Joe Rose’s audio cassette “Kantaram
ani Katkutleo” talks about Julius’ girlfriend who probably had more boyfriends
than she could count:
