Alois : My guess is the Propaganda /  Padroado tussle that produced competing
claims to parish membersin Bombay Diocese. Violence had erupted not just in the
streets of Dadar, but on church premises too.  Korlai may have been offered as
a sop to a Dadar padroado faction, an assertive arm of the PortugueseRepublic
which in effective had proprietory control of the Church, a result of Rome's
concordat with the Kingmany centuries earlier.    The agreement gave Lisbon
Bombay's seat to the diocese with every other incumbent. Rome had named Roberts
to replace Lima, and when Robert quit, Salazar claimed his right to name a
Bishop. Nehru thwarted him by denying a visa to any such aspirant.   Lima's
remains were re-interred in the new Wodehouse Cathedral. The one in Bhuleshwar
was demolished.
