We thank you in advance Tomazinho PRESS NOTE Lucas Fernandes is no more Lucas Fernandes, a renowned tiatr artiste of yester years expired under tragic circumstances on 16th June, 2009 at Colva, Goa. Mr. Fernandes served the tiatr stage when there were no female artistes available to participate in Tiatrs. He acted female roles with precision and won the hearts of tiatr goers. His capability in portraying effectively the characters of a young girl, a middle aged mother, or a daughter or a daughter - in law, etc helped the writers and directors of tiatr of that time to produce tiatrs on various themes. He was a very good singer too and in singing also he mostly acted female roles only. In fact he contributed immensely in his own way to the development of Tiatr in the 1940s and 1950s. In the beginning of the 1960s he migrated to Beira for better prospects and hence could not continue his acting on the tiatr stage. Some years back he returned to Goa. His contribution to tiatr staged was recognized by the Goa Government when he was felicitated by Shri. Digamber Kamat, Chief Minister of Goa on the occasion of the inauguration of the Tiatr Academy of Goa on 16th February 2009. Tiatr Academy of Goa condoles the sudden death of this versatile tiatr artiste, conveys our condolences to his family and prays to the Almighty to grant him the eternal peace.
