Dear Goans, Just days back Luizinho tried his stunts to gain entry into Goa politics by showing his capabilities in many aspects, especially acquaintances with the Central leaders including with Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi. He has even mention that Goa not only should get the Special Status but financial benefits needs to be augmented which he should be able to deliver it through his personal contacts in Delhi. But now he comes to know that there are cracks in the Goa Congress party and that he may probably will be sandwiched among them, therefore he feels that it is wise to be away from this gang and concentrate his work at Delhi level where he is assigned with several jobs. What would happen if all his jobs are transferred to some other leader and leave him free, to get into Goa politics? That could be a possibility but he should agree with it. I am sure Luizinho may not be in position to change his stand to re-enter into Goa politics when Alemao , Digamber , and Sardinha who are trying their level best to get the seat. Luizinho will be the better person to advise High Command who should be the right person for the right job to get the seat. Let us wait and see what changes takes place in days to come. Reginald is only mixing up the doses but not sure what will be the final effect and outcome.
Stephen Dias D.Paula Luizinho not keen on returning to Goa politics Published on: August 25, 2013 - 01:13 Even though the state Congress leaders are supporting the former chief minister of the state and All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Luizinho Faleiro MARGAO: Even though the state Congress leaders are supporting the former chief minister of the state and All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Luizinho Faleiro to come back to Goa politics, Faleiro seems to be not very keen on returning to local politics. Sources close to Faleiro claimed that he is not interested in returning back to state politics as he has to fulfil the responsibilities given to him by the party high command, at the national level. Faleiro’s recent presence in Goa and his statements while addressing the gathering commemorating the birth anniversary of late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi at the Congress office in Margao had raised many an eyebrow, especially in the opposition camps, which felt that Faleiro is trying to return back to Goa politics and hence assuring help to the state in obtaining the special status. However, sources close to Faleiro have ruled out the possibility of the Congress leader making a comeback on the local political scene. Faleiro is presently in Goa to celebrate his birthday with his family. Sources said that on his birthday on Monday, Faleiro would be honoured by the South Goa District Congress Committee at the Babu Naik Hall in Margao. People affected by the ban on mining in Goa had met Faleiro in Delhi and sought his help in requesting the authorities for financial assistance. Faleiro had also discussed their issue with Union ministers. What is interesting is the fact that ever since Faleiro was defeated by his friend-turned-foe Churchill Alemao from the Navelim constituency, he was given political space by Congress at the national level. He worked in Delhi for seven years and recently managed to get the party back to power in the Northeastern states. This has elevated him politically and helped him develop good relations with national Congress leaders and perhaps that has diverted his interest from Goan politics.
