A typo in my prior email below. Referring to Bush, I meant to say "He endorsed
the Republican
Party Texas platform in 2004 which refers to America as a Christian nation." I
incorrectly wrote
"God" instead of "America".

I disagree. One does not have to call out the name of God while committing a
crime against fellow
beings to be indicted in this manner. Actions speak, not necessarily words.
Bush has been quoted
as saying he makes decisions on bended knee. In the 2000 primary, he said
Christ was his most
important philosopher. He endorsed the Republican Party Texas platform in 2004
which refers to God
as a Christian nation. His view on stem cell research is driven by his faith (I
doubt he
understands the science).

For your statement to be true, would mean Bush excludes God from areas of his
life inspite of
being God-fearing. I doubt in his thinking he can make that leap, especially in
matters of war. In
1998 he stood on the Temple Mount and wept, his ties with Israel go back to at
least then.

So it is possible for God-fearing men to commit crimes, because of the
influence of their religion
or inspite of it. For your statement to be true, he would have to live on two
separate paths. Not
possible. This is why Santosh and others are correct in saying God-fearing
people commit evil,
just as atheists and agnostics do. One cannot say the Mafia were Catholic when
they went to church
in the morning and received communion, and in the afternoon were not Catholic
when they killed a
rival.

George,

I'm afraid you are off-base here. The thread is about "man committing
atrocities against fellow human beings in the name of God".

At no time did Dubya say he was going into Iraq in the name of his God. The US
armed forces have followers of various faiths and so its likely any political
leaders will draw reference to their own religions/Gods in times of war unless
ofcourse you are the founder of OBL University.

Its true that several thousand people have died in Iraq and unfortunately
several more will - there is a distinct lack of respect for innocent
civilians, even soccer players.

On another note..lets keep away from drawing US politics, the Iraq &
Israel/Hezb war on Goanet as much as possible, or else we will all get a
mouthful from our resident expert.. :-(

Thank you - Bosco

Both theists and atheists have been mass murderers. Yes, some God-fearing
people who profess their faith openly, have started illegal and immoral wars.
George Bush is a good example. In the Iraq war, 30,000 innocent Iraqis have
died. And now he is standing by while Israelis bomb women and children.
