Roland--

The same broken record that referred to Goans as bottler ani cuziners. I
merely sought to point out that ahyas were missing from that record. You
might have been living in a vacuum if you did not hear the term widely used
in India after the Goan "liberation!"

I trust you found Paulo Colaco Dias' earlier contribution to this debate
illuminating

Hi All,

With malice towards none of the participants, this topic has become like a
"seven year itch."
Can we end this subject?

Kind Regards, GL

Did Crocker also say Nehru called Goans cooks and butlers?

That's the issue being discussed here, I guess.

Nehru - A Contemporary's Estimate (by Sir Walter
Crocker - Oxford University Press 1966) makes for some
interesting reading - especially with regards to Goa.

Sir Walter Crocker was the Australian Ambassador to
India during the period, and recently passed away aged
100. "Sir Walter saw through the pretence of
peacefulness adopted by Nehru and his successors and
correctly forecast India’s development of nuclear
weapons." -
http://www.adelaideinstitute.org/Dissenters/crocker.htm

My own copy of the book has come from San Mateo County
Library (USA). Perhaps Carmo D'Cruz has one lying in
his vast garage (big enough for a trio of ponies?),
and he would do better by reading it.

Gabriel.

I must confess that maths was not a subject taught at GMC. The above
statement is possibly based on rusty IIT maths.

If Nehru said/proclaimed : 'Goans, cooks, butlers etc' over 50 years ago,
and if this proclamation was after Dec 19, 1961
Then, we must presently be in the year 2011-2.

Bravo IIT. I always knew that you taught Maths differentlybut this
differently?

Now, Nehru did use those three words (i.e. Goans, cooks, butlers) in one
sentence. The sentence (as reported by those who went to see him) is NOT as
K3 has constructed it.

The inference, however, is the same i.e. Goans are only cooks and butlers.
No need for them to decide on their future. It has to be decided for them.

And what did the "Freedom Fighters" do when they heard these comments ?

It is reported that they came back to Goa "quite disappointed".

Many years later .the Govt of Goa was to produce a Video CD starring
Ramesh Deo. This VCD which was full of Bondollam, was funded by the Goa
Govt. It was later withdrawn after the 'bogus facts' were exposed by (inter
alia) Miguel Braganza et al.

K3 may wish to research and advise Which Goan was the brain behind this
bogus VideoCD.
