The filling of mangroves behind Heera petrol pump has rightly drawn the attention of some groups. But if one remembers during the period from 2000 -2004 there was filling taking place allegedly by the City Corporation and the issue was brought to light by then MLA Victoria Fernandes and the Chief Minister Parrikar smilingly feigned ignorance about who was doing it. It was during the period of the first IFFI. Further away from Heera petrol pump one sees massive land filling of mangrove area and scrap yards, garages and what not have come up. Surprisingly no one is objecting to this.
