Got the news in Goa that our long-time Goanetter and journalist Alfred de Tavares passed away. Awaiting details, so far only received the news via telephone. Alfred was known to many on this network, and a journalist of long repute. I recall his articles in The Week, the news agencies in India, and also his recent reminiscences of the 1961 era in Goa. I'll remember him for his sense of humour. There are many aspects of his life worth recalling ... Very sad news indeed. Let us all remember Alfredo and his family in our prayers. He was one of us and worked hard in the Goa anti-mining campaign, reporting and interviewing different people on the subject. You can do a google search for his name and recall the many posts from him in this forum, some from last month itself. We can never guess when the time comes. RIP dear friend. Just cannot believe it that our Chacha Alfred is no more. I have hailed him for his article in Herald Review on Dr. Jack De Sequeira. This is a shock to Goans if this is true. Hope to God it is not.
