And has been on in full thrall, as income generator for at least over a
decade.

Seriously does it involve us other than the “Zanna go.” Or, some “squishy”
rights to I got there first, I voiced my mind, I spilled my excitement! In
that sense too many of Goan origin have gone effete. :)

And yet, on another level, those in India are so up there with all kinds of
information and practice, that saints must be blushing.

Gnowledge lab is conducting a five day workshop on Sugar Platform on
OLPC in Goa in collaboration with Digital Bridge Foundation,and Nirmala
Instititute of Education, Goa, is organising a symposium on the Sugar
Learning Platform.

Venue: Our lady of Merces High School, Merces, Goa

On 2nd of July 2010 there will be a 2hour symposium on Learning with
Sugar Platform.  This is a lecture demonstration to popularise the
constructionist model of education. The symposium details are as follows:

Date: 2ndJuly, 2010
Time: 10 a.m to 12 noon
Venue: Our lady of Merces High School, Merces, Goa

Speakers: Nagarjuna.G, Amit.D, Harriet Vidyasagar, Rita Paes, Shilpa

Sugar OLPC workshop in Goa 28th June - 2nd July 2010

gnowledge lab of Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR will
be conducting a  five day workshop on Sugar Platform on OLPC in Goa in
collaboration with Digital Bridge Foundation,and Nirmala Instititute
of Education, Goa, is organising a symposium on the Sugar Learning
Platform.

If you know people in Goa, (GLUG-GOA) please send them this note.  We 
need volunteers with knowledge in GNU/Linux to help the school 
successfully run this program.  The third standard school students 
(about 97 of them) will be given one OLPC each.  The teachers and 
students of the school will be attending this workshop.

Diabetes is a silent killer which acts slowly but surely, said advocate 
Francis D'Souza, while inaugurating s State Level Seminar on 'Sugar After 40' 
organized by the Departments of Microbiology and Biotechnology in 
association with Vrundavan Hospital and Research centre.

Major illnesses are due to stress. The need to perform, to outshine, 
becomes a risk, and this creates stress which destroys hormonal balance, he 
added.

The programme began with blood sugar determination for the participants. In 
his welcome address, Principal Prof. Newman Fernandes stressed upon the 
importance of awareness about diabetes, the right diet, adequate exercise 
and the significance of regular monitoring of blood sugar levels.

Mrs. Monteiro, Head of Department of Microbiology, delivered the key-note 
address. She spoke in brief about the types of diabetes, symptoms, causes, 
complications, control of diabetes and the related condition of 
hypertension.

The first session was conducted by Mrs. Bernadette Pereira, a dietician at 
Vrundavan Hospital, enlightened the participants about the vital importance 
of the dietary management of diabetes.

She elaborated a food plan by specifying the risky and safe foods for 
diabetics.

In the second session, Dr. Digambar Naik, Director of Vrundavan Hospital, in 
an interactive and informal session, sorted out the various misconceptions 
about diabetes, and answered the questions of the participants.

He emphasized on how we can avoid diabetes using non-pharmacological methods 
like diet and exercise, and how we can manage diabetes using constant 
monitoring early insulin therapy, exercise and diet. He also informed the 
participants about the latest developments in Diabetes Research and advances 
in treatment technology.

The programme coordinator was Mrs. Marina Monteiro.


Goanet supports BMX, the alumni network of Britto's, St Mary's and
Xavier's -- three prominent institutions in Mapusa, Goa. Events 
scheduled from Dec 16 to 21, 2006
