Re: [Goanet] Traffic jams ...
Cynicism aside, what is really different this December 2015? Same gullies, same gardi !! It has been like this for the last twenty years, no? It can only get better - same gullies, same gardi, different gorment !! - B -Original Message- From: Frederick FN Noronha * ? * ??? ??? Kudos to the impeccable logic, prudence, intelligence and ability of the Goa government to let two major EDM festivals happen together in Goa's most crowded belt, during the week Goa is at its most crowded. You rock! Can't even begin to comprehend why ANYONE would doubt your ability to govern, and take good decisions.

Add to it the 3rd. Mandovi Bridge works and the hot-mixing of the National Highway during office hours. I for one, was held up from ACDIL Porvorim to the Bridge for 1 hour 15 minutes. Instead of reaching Margao to address the meeting at 4.30 p.m. I reached there at 6.00 p.m. And I have added another ban to the one that I have posted yesterday i.e banning all BANDHS in Goa when GSRP comes to power, this one being that NO HOTMIXING WORK SHALL BE UNDERTAKEN ANYWHERE IN GOA EITHER ON NATIONAL HIGHWAY OR LOCAL LOWWAYS, during office hours. Hotmizxing works shall start at 12.00 midnight and end at 6.00 to 8 a.m. Period. [Goanet] Traffic jams...
Were this year's traffic jams in Panjim for Carnival far worse than in earlier years? Did the others who came for the parade feel likewise (or was it only me)? If so, was there some foul-up in planning the route? The riverfront road had been divided in two, with the floats on the riverside and traffic permitted in the other lane. In theory, a good idea... till everything got clogged, and it took an hour or more to traverse two kms! Looking forward to other comments... I could be wrong! [Goanet] Traffic jams on 7-minute Mumbai sea link
Traffic jams on 7-minute Mumbai sea link MUMBAI: It was houseful on India's first open sea bridge on Wednesday - celebrities and commoners came out in droves to drive up and down the newly opened engineering marvel on the sea, leading to hour-long traffic snarls at both ends. ( Watch ) When the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) was thrown open at midnight Tuesday, there were very few vehicles, but by dawn the numbers increased, said an official of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). It looked as though everyone was eager to grab the opportunity to travel free on the bridge till Sunday. The enthusiasm led to traffic snarls. "In fact, it even exceeded our expectations and by 10 a.m., an estimated 10,000-plus vehicles had already traversed the bridge, and the numbers are only increasing as the weather is quite pleasant," the official said, apparently pleased with the public response.
