She's good at singin Hindi songs. It was good of Chris Perry to train Usha Utupp, and Mohammed Rafi to train them for singing in Konkani. In a way, Chris also train Lorna who hardly spoke Konkani. It was all by-heart, as they say in India.
So Natalie's rendering of famous Bollywood songs is remarkable. She has a melodious voice and sure she will be good in Italian. Bollywood is now big business in Canada, ever since IFFI in Vancouver. British Columbia government spent $10 million to bring it. Bollywood shows are held regularly in places such as Brampton, Mississauga and Toronto. Some years ago I attend Shreya Ghosal's show and before that attended Bombay Dreams, a rock opera. Davar has his Bollywood dance classes, and once I met a Goan girl who was teaching Bollywood dancing. I asked her what exactly is Bollywood dancing, and she was puzzled to give a straight answser. I watched the learning sessions. The students, mostly children, would shake as the actors on screen to the Bollywood tunes. Bollywood dances has no formal steps, and so it goes. Bangra music was a craze a few years ago. Since underground Bangra made such an impact in Britain with some groups who were often brought to Toronto, the Brangra beat was a ,must at some dances and weddings. Canada has some organized Bangra groups, both in Ontario and British Columbia. In fact, Bangra has flourished in many cities where sikhs have a significant population. At one time, Canada was hot destination for Bollywood movies. So much so that it was over-explored and now the trend has slowed down. I believe Vancouver will continue to host the Times International Film Award show. I am also told that the show was hosted in Canada as a sop to the South Aisan people with an eye on the elections.
