*Kuwait, June 25, 2008:* The countdown begins for the grand KIFF NITE to be held this Thursday, 26 June 2008 at Ramada Hotel (Riggai). The event is being organized by the Kuwait Indian Football Federation (KIFF) supported by 18 Indian football clubs and Associations affiliated to the Federation. One of Goa's popular musical groups 'Brothers In Arms' have been roped in to feature at the show. Kuwait's number one DJs - DJ John and DJ Marlon will further electrify the evening. A Waltz Competition is going to be one of the highlights of the NITE besides various other programs. There's a special competition called PARTY FOOTBALLER for the football buffs where personality and soccer knowledge will be tested. Kuwait's well known Master Compere Lloyd D'Souza will keep the evening flowing. Speaking about the event, KIFF President Mr. Blandino M. Viegas said, "The KIFF Nite is being organized to bring all sports loving Indians together in unity and to promote Indian Football."
Football activities in Kuwait were started by expatriate community way back in 1975. As years went by, these activities gained momentum and slowly flourished and the sport became very popular. In 1979 a few Indian sports enthusiasts formed the United Goans Football Centre in Kuwait and the first Indian tournament known as United Goans Football Rolling Trophy was held in 1979. The Kuwait Indian Football Federation (K.I.F.F.) was established in 1984 and it controls all Expatriates Indians Football activities in Kuwait. In the current season, there are 18 registered teams under KIFF with over 350 active players. Apart from the League, Four(5) Regular and Five(5) 7-aside Non-Regular Tournaments are organized by clubs affiliated to KIFF. The clubs affiliated to Kuwait Indian Football Federation and involved in organizing the KIFF NITE are: United Goans Centre, G.O.A Maroons, Navelim Youth Centre, C.R.C Chinchinim, Santos Football Club, Bombay Boys Sports Club, Curtorcares United, United Friends Club, Veterans XI, A.V.C Overseas Association, Kerala Challengers, Fahaheel Brothers, Paradiso Football Club, Don Bosco Oratory, DHL, and Kuwait Goan Association, Santos United and Goan Entertainment Club.
