This month's Goanet operations sponsored by Mrs. Daisy Faleiro ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To sponsor Goanet operations, contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Herman, After I forwarded the same article to GoaNet 24 hours earlier, here is one response (guess who!) to it: >... considering it a story only when it affects Europe, or the Euro-media >takes it up, is, to me, still a case of news-colonialism >:-) Unfortunately, given the biases in the international news-flows, it >would affect the reflections that come up on Goanet too. Does that make >sense? My answer: No! And can one justify a radio programme being rubbished without it having been listened to? On the subject of malaria, another neo-colonialist article today: Headline: Goa malaria advice causes confusion Source: The Telegraph (UK). 13 Jan 2006. Excerpt: An outbreak of malaria cases in Goa has prompted the Health Protection Agency (HPA) to modify new guidelines which had told visitors to the area that they no longer needed medication against the disease. The guidelines were published earlier this month as news of the malaria cases emerged. The holidaymakers who contracted malaria include a Briton, a Dane and a Swede. Two Germans have a serious form of the disease. The HPA malaria guidelines can be downloaded at www.hpa.org.uk/publications/2006/malaria/ For full text of article, 639 words, see. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/main.jhtml?xml=/travel/2007/01/13/etgoa13. xml Forwarded by Eddie Fernandes
