[gobolinux-devel] GRUB splash screen, part II

2007-02-01 Thread MLA-Gobo
After starting at that light green background for a while, I decided that
I'm not entirely happy with the look of the GRUB splashscreen, so I thought I
would tweak it some more. So have a look at it and tell me what you think.

Since you're touching this again, what do you think about putting
Que's image (http://gobolinux.org/images/que.png) instead of the globe
one? It would look more Goboish. That will require some background
modifications, but the end result might become interesting.

Certainly possible; I'll play around with it. The reason I didn't include
any Gobo-specific images or text to begin with is because it annoyed me to
see SUSE's gecko and branding on the original splash screen when there were
other operating systems on the menu in addition to SUSE. I thought that it
would be better to stick with something generic that could be used with any
OS, especially since a lot of people, when installing Gobo, aren't installing
it as their primary OS, and might start wishing for something that wasn't so
specific.
Of course, there's no reason why two different versions can't be shipped;
one Gobo-specific and one generic. Since the installation program asks the
user to choose the boot theme, maybe that would be a good place to ask about
the GRUB splash screen.
Speaking of which, is there an updated version of the installer in CVS?
I'd like to hack a couple of features into it if I have the time.
