Re: [google-appengine] Re: Entitites in the transaction

2016-12-09 Thread Rajesh Gupta
I put the logs in get's as well. The code is doing the gets' for the same
entity groups that are used for the put's and delete's. So, there are 13
entity groups.

Appengine team,
Any way to find out the entities participating in the transaction??

[google-appengine] Re: What triggers a call to channel disconnect (i.e. /_ah/channel/disconnected) when you are using Google Channels API?

2016-12-09 Thread Nick
Managing the connection on the client side is not as simple as the server. The
following may be useful:

The dev server simulates channels by polling, so it isn't a great guide for how
it works in the live environment.

Channels only last about 20 minutes. On the client, pull get the js error
callback, just establish a new connection and continue. If this seems to have
some issues, there are some hacks published to stack overflow that seem to make
reconnecting more reliable.

Disconnect is mostly reliable, but it's probably only useful for cleaning up
data on the server. If you want to drive behavior, I'd rely on the client
making requests based on the js callbacks for onclose and onerror.

Once you client side and server side code is bedded down it's very reliable and
robust.

[google-appengine] Re: JSP not loading

2016-12-09 Thread 'Alex (Cloud Platform Support)' via Google App Engine

In fact, the rapid evolution of GAE products may not always be updated
accordingly with the available documentation across the platform.

Concerning your questions about debugging App Engine applications using
Third-Party IDE’s, there is in fact several options that you might be
interested in. First, Cloud Tools for
IntelliJ are available on the Cloud Platform and here is the Using
Stackdriver Debugger tutorial
 that you can use to
debug live application running in the Cloud. Note that this is a Beta
release of Stackdriver Debugger in IntelliJ IDEA. This feature might be
changed in backward-incompatible ways and is not subject to any SLA or

Then, this Third-Party site

proposes another way to Run/Debug the configuration of your Google App

As another alternative, it is possible to use the Google Stackdriver
Debugger feature of the Cloud Platform
to debug your application in production directly from the console. Here is
the Quickstart for App Engine tutorial
 that shows how to do
it.

Lastly, let me know if the Bookshelf App for Java tutorial
 helps you in
solving your issue. And if it doesn’t, I would need you to provide the
previously referenced Minimal Working Example of your code in order to
investigate your issue further.

Hello Deepak,

Are these log entries associated with any detected malfunction of the nginx
server? If not, you could avoid seeing repetitive messages by fine-tuning a
certain set of server parameters, as indicated in this nginx forum posting

others.

Hmmm, just guessing: perhaps if you also log the `get`s (as well as the
`put`s and `delete`s that you say you're already logging) you'll find that
the total does exceed the 25-entity-groups limit in one transaction...?

Also any logs from the worker application would be really helpful to figure

[google-appengine] Re: Alternative to Objectify: Catatumbo?

2016-12-09 Thread 'Jordan (Cloud Platform Support)' via Google App Engine
Hey Thomas,

As neither Objectify or Catatumbo are Google supported products, and are
third-party, the best place to get a migration guide is from the creators
of these frameworks. Specifically I'd recommend contacting Catatumbo
Support to add a easy migration guide from
Objectify to their GitHub Wiki.

I will therefore leave it open to anyone with experience in these specific
frameworks to add their comments and recommendations.

[google-appengine] Re: Over Quota - This application is temporarily over its serving quota. Please try again later.

2016-12-09 Thread 'Jordan (Cloud Platform Support)' via Google App Engine
Even though your billing is enabled for your project, you may still need to
increase your daily Spending Limit
 to
allow your project to use more than the free quotas. You should also ensure
that your billing account is in good standing by seeing if there are any
warnings in your console . In
addition, there is a limit of 10GB of storage per index for the Search API.
You would need to request for a quota increase
 if you are hitting
this limit.

[google-appengine] Re: What triggers a call to channel disconnect (i.e. /_ah/channel/disconnected) when you are using Google Channels API?

2016-12-09 Thread 'George (Cloud Platform Support)' via Google App Engine

There is no doubt about the fact that browser disconnect is unreliable and
difficult to trace in real time. The level of inconsistency and the
particularities of possible disconnection detection differ from a browser
to another.

A heartbeat script causes the web browser to send a signal to the server at
regular intervals to advise that a page from that server is still being
displayed. There are numerous examples to be found, with various
implementations of the heartbeat
principle.

Detecting that a channel is still alive, as sketched above, is different
from trying to keep it alive by programmatic means. Sending regular signals
from the server might not help when a token expires, to name an example.
You need to decide what architecture suits best your needs.

Firebase Database pricing might seem high at a first look, but one has to
to take into consideration the total usage volume planned. In comparison to
other solutions, it may prove advantageous in that context.

[google-appengine] Re: Background Threads Prevent Shutting Down of Basic Scaling Modules

2016-12-09 Thread 'Jordan (Cloud Platform Support)' via Google App Engine
The idea of PULL queues is to have a worker always alive to continuously
check the PULL queue to see if there are any new tasks for it. This design
relies on you always having an instance running your worker's 'while' loop
to continuously poll the PULL queue at time intervals. Since you instead
want to allow your worker to be shut down to ideally save on instances
hours, I would instead suggest you look into PUSH queues
.

With PUSH queues, your worker instance is only ever awake when there is a
new task for it to perform; meaning it gets to shutdown when there is
nothing left for it to do, and it never has to poll the queue. This works
by creating URL task handlers

for your workers. By exposing your worker with a URL endpoint, a PUSH queue
only needs to make a request to your worker's URL to wake it up. Your
worker then accepts the payload of the HTTP request made to its URL
handler, and begins doing its work on that data. Once it is done working,
it then becomes idle and can be shutdown by App Engine until a new task is
enqueued and the PUSH queue makes a new request to your worker.

[google-appengine] Alternative to Objectify: Catatumbo?

2016-12-09 Thread Thomas Baldauf
Since App Engine Flexible Environment will not support the GAE SDK API any
more (compat runtimes were dropped), unfortunately Objectify can also not
be used any more - at least until they support Google Cloud Client API to
access the datastore, which is not very likely
(https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/objectify-appengine/_8qQicEYg7E).
Looking for an OR-Mapper using the Cloud Client API I came acroass
Catatumbo (https://github.com/sai-pullabhotla/catatumbo). Do you think that
would be a good alternative? Does anyone have experience in migrating from
Objectify to Catatumbo? At least entity classes should be easy to migrate,
as most annotations are quite similar. Your feedback is very much
appreciated, thank you!

[google-appengine] Re: Background Threads Prevent Shutting Down of Basic Scaling Modules

2016-12-09 Thread Tolga Tanrıverdi
Yes Jordan you're right the part that keeps my instance open is: (I've
removed the polling queue code and sleep part ,the instance shutdown
successfully)

Thread.sleep(MILLISECONDS_TO_WAIT_WHEN_NO_TASKS_LEASED);

which sleeps the thread for 2.5 seconds if there is nothing in the queue
then poll again, and I dont know any other way to keep pooling the pull
queues.
You suggested to me to use shutdown triggers, but as far as I know shutdown
triggers are for manual scaling. However I dont want to use manual scaling
because in that case I've to calculate when should I shutdown the instance
and I also need to decide when to wake the instance. Instead I'm trying to
use basic scaling because it automaticly wakes when a new request arrive
and also automaticly shutdowns when the idle-timeout time arrives.
Can you suggest me a solution

[google-appengine] Entitites in the transaction

2016-12-09 Thread Rajesh Gupta
Hi,

I am getting the error.
"operating on too many entity groups in a single transaction"

Is there a way to find the entities that are participating in the
transaction? Any logs or any flag that can be enabled that tells about the
entities in the transaction?
