[google-appengine] Need help tracing a road map in GCP for python web app deployment

2019-12-04 Thread Guanaco Devs
Hi, First of all sorry if this is not the right place to post this, but I
really need some guidance.

I want to build a web app with python and deploy it using GCP. My web app
will be for e-commerce, I want to build it from scratch and plan to
maintain it for as long as I live.
Due to the broad range of products in GCP I really don't know how to start,
for instance "Flask vs. Django"(I'm already building my app with Flask).
Then is, where or how to deploy it?, not the procedure, but the GCP product
that might be a good fit for my needs.

I started with Firebase for Android and I'm quite familiar with all the
"Development" products of Firebase I use them across my released apps with
a 100% satisfaction, that's why I want to use Firestore/RTDB, Storage and
Firebase Auth. Tried Wordpress(mostly to make the html and css easier for
me) but drop it, because I felt that there were so many things out of my
control and I did not find a way to integrate my Firebase knowledge with
wordpress.

Thanks to my Firebase experience I learned basic python, javascript for my
functions and have a good amount of bash scripts that help me maintain the
backend for my products, without having to be in front of the computer and
got to get familliar with `gcloud` and the cloud console.

Yet I fail to find what product is the best for me to deploy a python web
app, should I go GAE, get a VM, Kubernetes, cloud run, is just so many
products that I believe are good.

Best Regards
Edgard

Hi Charlotte,

Additionally, once you have a private Cloud SQL IP address, I think you
should be able to connect to it from App Engine by using Serverless Virtual
Private Cloud Access:
https://cloud.google.com/vpc/docs/configure-serverless-vpc-access .

You can get a private IP when you create a Cloud SQL instance under

I don’t think this is the best place to learn how to code an app from
scratch. What is your experience with programming applications? Have you
done some before? There are many tutorials available on the Internet but it
takes years of experience to design an app.

Kindly note that you can add multiple web applications in the same app

[google-appengine] App Engine, MySQL and private ip

2019-12-04 Thread Charlotte Hyldahl
Hi,

I have an PHP application that can only connect through TCP to mysql (no
sockets). I host it on Google Cloud App Engine. I have created a Cloud SQL
database too.

When i use the PHP application externally, it connects fine to the public
ip of my Cloud SQL database. I have allowed my external ip in the
connection panel of the Cloud SQL database. All is fine.

But now when i deploy the PHP app to app engine it fails, thats pretty
obvious, as i use the public ip, and the new ip is not allowed in the Cloud
SQL database.

My question is: How do i get an internal ip address that i can use to
connect to my Cloud SQL database from my PHP app on App Engine?

Sorry but i really cant find a good answer for this pretty simple question.

Regards Charlotte

Re: [google-appengine] Python 3.7 and Python 2 ndb cache conflict

2019-12-04 Thread 'Andrew Gorcester' via Google App Engine
Hi Eliran,

On Python 3, you can use Cloud Memorystore to provide a Redis cache.
However, you can't currently share a cache between the Python 2.7 and
Python 3.7 versions of the GAE. The cache will be separate, which will be
an issue as you describe if you are running both Python 2 and Python 3
versions targeting the same Datastore database.

Now that Cloud NDB supports Python 2.7 in addition to Python 3.7, you could
try to solve this problem by replacing your GAE NDB with Cloud NDB on
Python 2.7, and then pointing it at the same Redis instance as the Python
3.7 version. Instead of sharing Memcache, you can share Redis. See the
documentation for more info:
https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/standard/python3/migrating-to-cloud-ndb

Hi All,

I'm a Google Cloud Infra guy. My client want to host multiple web

Any helpful directions on this would be most welcome.

This is one of the posts i came across

So i want to develop a multi-threaded application, in which each thread

all these calls is returned I would want to do further processing. Can you
please guide me on this?

[google-appengine] Python 3.7 and Python 2 ndb cache conflict

2019-12-04 Thread 'Eliran Segev' via Google App Engine
Hi, we are migrating our python 2 services to python 3.

In python 2 we are using NDB - that uses Memcache
In python 3 we are using cloud NDB - that cannot have Memcache as cache
provider

And now we have a problem when updating an entity from Python 3 it does not
affect the cache, and when using Python 2 we get the cached copy of this
entity.

Without changing python 2 code to cloud NDB, how can we solve this and
still have cache?
