Thank you for your reply Jeff. I am now able to select and persist
data but when i update it throws a ClassCastException, when
executeUpdate() is executed.

Engine:

Also, you might have better luck finding JPA experts in the discussion group
for the Java runtime:

Could we see your persistence.xml file and the classes you are using to
access the datastore?
