[google-appengine] Index building how long does it take?

2012-05-24 Thread PK
I just uploaded a new version of my app that among other changes has one
new index for an entity kind that has only 38 entities.

It has been more than an hour since I uploaded the version of the app with
the new index and the index still shows in Building state. Is this normal?

How long should I wait before opening a case?

Thanks,

[google-appengine] Index building - 24+ hours with small database

2011-10-10 Thread n6rno
I have an application with two main entities (652 instances each) and
a total entity count of 1351.
One of my main entities (FileUnit) with 652 instances has just one
index which is building for over 24 hours.
This FileUnit is 20MB in size (really is just a blob with a key and a
segment count which is generally 0 for all instances). The index is
being created on the segment count.

This application used to work just fine. I converted it to HRD
recently and now I can not retrieve it as the index does not seem to
build.

This application accepts a special file from the users and stores it
as a blob. Later, we process the blob and calculate statistics on the
file. Right now is the date submission period and so we have 652 items
(since 10/1/2011) and expect to be at 1200 by the end of October. So
the usage is relatively low for a web application.

What can be done to get the index to build ?

 Issue: Index Building Stuck

 I have uploaded an index definition file which has exhausted my index
 quota at 200, and the majority of them (~165) are stuck in the
 BUILDING stage and have been for weeks.  I have since refactored my
 code back down to using approximately 40 indexes, however I can not
 upload this new index.yaml definition because it complains that I'm
 out of index quota and vacuum_indexes will correctly identify the
 definitions will are no longer being used and say it will delete them,
 however this results in no change in my actual Datastore Index
 Dashboard.  Is there something you can do on your end to kickstart
 this process or mark them all in error so I can vacuum them?

 Thank you,

 Jared

[google-appengine] Index Building Stuck

building state with no change. The entity has only 90 entries. I tried to

Is there another way to get rid of them without deleting the whole GAE and

[google-appengine] Index building CPU time

2010-01-03 Thread jd
Hi,

I am in the process of importing data into my application and notice
about 10x clock time CPU usage - that is each 30 second task uses
about 300 seconds of CPU quota. I assume that this is mainly used
indexing my entities - each has about 70 properties indexed (a
geospatial map block index).

Now I have modified my custom indexes and they are still building.
But I don't see the CPU time accounted for anywhere. Is this _free_
CPU time?

If so, is it cheaper to remove all indexes before importing data by
setting properties as unindexed and removing custom indexes, import
the data and then add the indexes again?

If I modify an Entity to set a property from unindexed to indexed will
a new implicit index be created? Will I have to re-put the entities
to include them in the index?

Thanks,

John

Yes you will. Only when perform the put, will the the Entity be added
to that single property index.

Think of it you are only changing the entity definiton (model) - which
inlcudes index definiton - for new Entites, it doesnt change it ones
already in the datastore.

Indexes are built in a queue across all apps, so the index build time has

[google-appengine] Index building Error

2009-09-06 Thread Cornel

Hello!

The following index definition keeps giving Error. What are the
possible reasons for an index to be error prone?

   datastore-index kind=DbContact ancestor=false source=auto
property name=isCustomerProfile direction=asc/
property name=keyWords_S direction=asc/
property name=subcategory direction=asc/
property name=version direction=asc/
property name=__key__ direction=asc/
/datastore-index

Here is a part of the DbContact class:

@PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION)
public class DbContact extends DbEntity {

@PrimaryKey
@Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY)
@Extension(vendorName=datanucleus, key=gae.encoded-pk,
value=true)
private String encodedKey;

@Persistent
private String version
@Persistent
private ListString category;
@Persistent
private ListString subcategory;
@Persistent
private String isCustomerProfile;
@Persistent
private ListString keyWords_S;

I shoud mention the i also have an index similar to the one above, the
only difference being category, instead of subcategory, which was
created succesfully and is now Serving.

[google-appengine] index building stuck

2009-08-28 Thread martin.kukan

Hi,

I'm using java and low level api for the datastore and after uploading
incorrect index definition (I specified a column in index which
doesn't exist) the index is stuck on building. I've updated the index
definition with no indexes also added the missing column but nothing
helps. My app id is fotomaraton-twig.

Thanks for help,

[google-appengine] Index Building for a long time

2009-04-27 Thread timwee

I was wondering if anyone is facing the same issue as me...
I have indexes on an app engine app that has been building for a long
time.
I don't really need a couple of those indexes anymore as part of model/
entity changes, but I think it could be blocking the other ones that I
need from building.
Has this happened before to anyone else?
how did you guys resolve it?

Thanks,
Tim

[google-appengine] Index Building for (3) Days

2009-03-24 Thread davidbre

Hello,

I have (2) indexes which have been building for (3) days.

The 1st was created after loading about 14K entries. The index
consists of a string and int attribute.

Thinking that I should have first created the index before loading the
data, I created a new Model with no data, and the same string-int
index. It has also now been building for a couple of days.

The Application ID is bible-library.

thank you,
David
