The syntax is perfectly fine. The fact is though, you have to have a particular java type to be "supported" for persistence to be able to query against it. I doubt that GeoPt is, though DataNucleus allows extensions to permit such a thing to be enabled; just that Google would have to enable those in their plugin. Over to Google ;-)
