I'm not sure if you have already figured this out, but there is an extremely simple solution.
This page has instructions for adding an annotation which did the job for me: Add or edit a trendline or annotation > <https://support.google.com/docs/answer/6075154?hl=en> > The annotation allowed me add a note to any existing X or Y axis point. Want to put it somewhere else? Just add another row or column.
